Topic Dog Boards / Health / TCP?

Hi everyone,
We have an old friend that has kept dogs, mostly black labs, for dozens of years, the other day he told me that he has never given any of his dogs their annual injections, he gives them tcp. When they are pups he buys a medium bottle of tcp and dilutes it with the same amount of water, then on a daily basis pours a spoonful over the meal until it is all gone, and this he says 'does the trick'. I just wondered if anyone else had heard of this before. It's not something I would be prepared to risk with my dog. Is it an old wives tale, or just a risky practice. I might add he says he has never had any health problems with any dogs he has owned.

I have never heard of TCP used in that way, although a breeder in my breed does use diluted TCP to spray the dogs throats when they return from a show, in case they have been by any dogs with airborne viruses, she is an elderley breeder. so could be something they used prior to vaccs.
