can anyone tell me if i have been too early for a scan with my girl went on the 19th of this month the last day of mating was 23rd of june i ask the scan lady if this was too early and she said no and she not pregnant should i go and scan again

There are many posts asking the same question by owners disappointed that a scan has showed that their girl is indeed not pregnant,and desperate for some one to say hang on maybe she is - so you can cling on to that hope.Gosh I have been there myself.2 negative scans,a positive scan showing 2 fetus's - only for my girl to reabsorb later.At just over 3 weeks,this is alittle early,especially if also mated a little later as well.Also if the scan opereator was inexperienced,it may have been too early for them to tell.So if in doubt try again in a few days time.Good luck.

I have to agree it is too early, I am surprised these folk agree to scan at such an early stage, 28-30 days is thought to be ideal and that is when the professional will agree to do it. 

can i ask who scanned your bitch ?

I wouldn't say it was too early, it's 29 days from last mating, so if there are pups they should have been visible.

But possibility of dates slightly later than poster thought or inexperienced scanner x

sharon I calculated 26 days from last mating.... 23rd June-19th July.

How many matings did you do with your bitch and on what days of her season etc as matings aren't always the date of ovulation! So she may not have taken for another 3-5 days or so. I would leave it another week and then try again if you are desperate to know. :-)

So it is, I was working to todays date, I can pick pups up as early as 21 days if there are any, it could be she's not as far on and a rescan in a week or so time will be more positive.

hi did mating on day 7 day 9 day 11 and day 12 and yes she did stand every time

I would leave for another week, as there is a 5 day gap from first to last mating so might have taken as late as 10 days after the first mating :-) hope that makes sense to you.

hi molly i use a lady in derby too and she is very good ,not sure if its the same 1 but she does say day 30 from last mateing, ive always gone at this stage and she picked up on pups as soon as she started to scan so like has been said you may have gone to early ,good luck with next scan x

Hi How did the scan go? Is your girl pregnant. My girl is due on the first week of september, I got told she was not pregnant, but that was when she was only 20 days, we waited and done another scan at 5 weeks and got told she has at least 3 pups. Please let us know how the scan went, i think there is a lot of people wanting to know if she is or not!

Hi Molly.  Can't offer anything other than I know how you feel as my girl missed twice.  Not sure if I will try her again or not to be honest as its gutting isn't it?

So sorry about your news.It took my girl over 2 years,3 scans later,2 phantoms a reabsorbed litter and very last attempt we had 5 healthy puppies.So though you maybe feeling down now - fingers crossed for next time. x
