Hi, my flatty has torn a pectinius muscle(in his groin). He doesn't cope well with most non steroidals. Are there any anti inflammatory homeopathic remedies that may be of use. He is currently on strict rest for the second time. Previously had rest and then hydrotherapy.

Many thanks

You could ask the vet about using Tramadol, one of my dogs can't tolerate NSAID's but is doing brilliantly on Tramadol.

You can use Belladonna for pain relief but there are other remedies that may help.

Also yes one of my mums dogs can't cope with normal pain relief but has to have something so is on tramadol and copes well on this, my own dog was on tramadol and i'm not sure what it did to him but he couldn't sleep and when he did drop off he would wake up in a panic literally screaming...horrendous, took him off the drug and it never happened again so be aware it can have dodgy side effects.

arnica will help but really need to contact a homeopath who treats animals for more advice it isnt quite like just taken a normal medication.

Hi WobblieBob

Belladonna.....works well in instances of very "sudden" and "hot" inflammation....

Arnica....as suggested by Furrie Friends.....is one of the most well known Homeopathic Pain Remedies...and is the Remedy that Christopher Day of http://www.alternativevet.org suggests learning about and experiencing for yourself first....if you have any interest in Homeopathic and Holistic Health for Animals (and people..! :) )

But in all honesty I would ask your conventional vet....to refer you to a Homeopathic Vet....He/She will want to ask you lots and lots of detailed questions about your dog....for instance things like whether they have normal/excessive/little thirst....and personality type...behaviour...interaction with other dogs/people.....and the more you can tell a Homeopathic Vet...the easier it becomes for Him/Her to prescribe a Homeopathic Remedy/Holistic Health approach for your Friend......

There are many dogs that don't do well on Veterinary Drugs...and good on you for researching The Alternatives.....

Sending My Best Wishes for a speedy recovery....

Helen x :)

Many thanks for the replies he is on tramadol at the moment but it has very little affect on him pain wise and also makes him very drowsy. The injury is technically old now happend about 10 weeks ago. had xrays/rest/different NSAID's/Tramadol/Hydrotherapy/Gentle excercise (better when allowed a little excercise).  Poor lads fed up with it all, although is currently enjoying some massage therapy.

My oldie was on Tramadol last year, vet said 12 every 24 hours(!) no wonder she was comatose, my friend couldn't even take 2 without the room spinning!

Normally I would try Arnica but as said previously a homeopathic vet will go into more detail to find the best remedy for your dog.
