Possibly she is still too young to hold on any longer? Could you set your alarm clock for an earlier time and see if you can catch her before she wees?

Hi Kim
We have an 8-1/2 week old bull terrier named Spike...he gets up like clockwork at around 2-2:30 am, 4-5am and then 7 to pee and sometimes poo. We usually get to bed around 10pm or so...I don't expect to have a full night's sleep for a long time! Also, another thing you could try is not to give her any water after 7pm or so. Dunno if that will help. But perhaps it is only a matter of her not being able to hold it for that length of time

Thanks Sonja maybe your right but I don't know about your Bully but she does'nt seem to drink alot of water. The food that she is on has to be mixed with water so maybe she gets her fill from that. What colour is your pup and does he chase his tail alot? Maddies ears are just about up and she is a handfull but I love it,they are so funny and loving it makes you wonder how anyone could hurt them.
Keep in touch.

Hi Kim
Spike is all white except for a bit of black on his nose :)
We actually waited over a year for him! The miraculous thing is that he came from a litter of 2, and his mother was a brindle and father was a tri-colour (one of his grandfathers was an all white though)!
I read in one of our books that a simple rule of thumb is to give your puppy a cup of water for every 8 lbs of weight. He isn't 8 lbs yet (close), so we give him around a cup. He does seem a bit mad for it though so we have to control how much he drinks in one sitting :)
Spike doesn't really chase his tail - he's too busy chasing our cats or our feet! He's a handful as well, but you're right - so funny and sweet when he's sleepy. We know he's going to be a great dog!

Others may disagree with me but - I never got up during the night to our pup. She was dry during the night after a couple of weeks and has never made a sound during the night apart from the first two nights when I ignored her :) Am I a very bad mother ? Mind you - my children were never allowed in bed with me at night either :) I like an undisturbed night's sleep. Start as you mean to go on :) :) :)

PS Our pup was in a crate

Hi Daisy
You're lucky! Spike seems like he really needs to go. He was getting up three times...Whines and then we take him to the papers, whines a bit (minute or so) then settles down for another sleep). Part of our problem is that we live in an apartment...so while my husband and I can ignore the whining - if it gets too intense we risk the wrath of neighbours...

I hadn't thought about it that way ! We are lucky and have neighbours only one side and not attached to us ! My older dog would have been returned to Battersea if we had had adjoining neighbours as he is very noisy if anyone comes near the house - but an angel at night, thank goodness :)

Hi Daisy, I would not usually get up to her but when I do she always go to the loo so she not just crying because she's on her own. When she does cry when we go to bed I just leave her and in about 5 minutes shes gone.I also have her in a crate,I think it's a great idea especially with a Bull Terrier although she has'nt chew any thing "yet".
Thanks
Kim
