I have a litter of 6 week old puppies and a 13 week old puppy. The 13 week old is all vaccinated and ready to take out.

She's going a bit stir crazy but I don't want to bring any infections into the house.

Would you take her out or wait until the puppies have gone to their new homes?

The pups should have immunity from their dam - would take sensible precautions but would get the pup out to socialise asap.

Can I ask why you are in this situation ? :-)

I assume Mum is going out, so the other pup going out won't make any difference.

Yes, get your puppy out very important to start that socialising, you can also carry her around in a puppy pouch to get her used to noises and busy places too.

Order in a bottle of parvocide to clean floors and disinfect feet etc for extra protection too, make sure pup is up to date with wormers and flea treatments, etc, sure they are, but worth mentioning. :-)

Mum hasn't been out as we have a really big garden and there hasn't been any need for her to leave it. I was thinking more about socialising the puppy, I know how important it is but just a little worried about bringing something into the house.

I don't consider it a situation as such just a bit of bad timing. I had ordered my puppy way before my girl came into season and the two just coinsided. I didn't want to put either off as the puppy was long awaited and the litter was also planned a long time ago. Both my OH enjoy obedience and showing.

All of my dogs go out including Mum nearly straight away as they would not have it any other way and I would think it extremely unfair. I am safe in the knowledge the pups have immunity from Mum and although I agree you have to be careful in the very early days so I spray Mum when she gets back, I am also a believer that non exposure to anything is more harmful than good.
My dogs would hate me and go crazy, crazy - they all live in the house.
The 13 week old should of course go out and straight away for socialisation.
