calling anyone who can use a pc better than i can :( :)
i am completely & utterly a pc plonker !!!!!
please could someone help ? i know this is not dog related but .... i need to know how to quickly scan an A4 document send it to email (this i can do) for it to come out at the "otherside" at a size they can read & print. I have just spent 2 &3/4 hours sending 5 pages, for the recipient (sp) not to understand any of it as it came out thier end so big there was only a couple of words on a line & a couple of lines per page. Did make them laugh though but it made me :( !!!! aparently there were loads & loads of pages coming out of thier printer, i only scanned 5 A4 pages.
please if thier is anyone out there who can help a pc plonker i would really appreciate it very much

I am also a complete technophobe, but what system are you scanning with (I hope I'm soundidng like I know what I mean!!!!) If you are sending "Bitmap" docs it can be like this, you want to use "JPeg" (whatever that is), I gather it's more condensed. (I once sent an old friend a photo and she received an A4 page of numbers!)

Yes scatty ...you need to scan the document and then make sure it is saved as a jpg ...this will also make it quicker to send by email if thats what you are doing.

Any other things , drop me an email as I have a very PC orientated hubby and Im sure he can help ;)

Liz, checked it and it is a black page with nothing on. :( :(

When i save the pics they are in jpg, i can not understand that when i send them it is not in jpg. and one pic can take 4mins to send and download. The comp is going out the window. lol

Scatty , you need to look at the *dots per inch* apparantly .....on the scan preferences ....reduce the size to about 300 per inch .

also if you have a photo suite system installed on computer I am sure you can scan them, resize them in there and then send.... it will make the file smaller and easier to send, but I dont know too much I admit, but I do that with my pics..

If you are scanning for e-mail don't scan above 75dpi, the mionitor only displays in this resolution so anything higher is a waste. Ingrid
- By Snorri [us] Date 06.01.03 03:12 UTC
Right on, Ingrid!

Recommended resolution for internet photos (etc) is 72 dots per inch. This keeps the filesize down and, consequently, the send time is reduced.

This is also a handy thing to remember if your recipient is using an e-mail account with a limited capacity (e.g. Hotmail) - you won't take up so much of their allocated space.

I did do an NVQ course on Info Tech, but it was 5 years ago and done on a PC - and I haven't had hands on a PC since. This is a Mac, and I've had to learn everything the hard way (University of Trialanderror). Never worry about being less knowledgeable - we were all like that when we started! You'll get these things as you go along - and you'll find people all over who can give you a bit of help (like on this chummy board!).

PC Plus for February has included a pdf writer amoungst its free CD's and it does work!! Took me a few hours to work it out but I have been wanting one for a while to put show schedules up on the net.

The only problem I did find (and it was easy to get over) was that it made my default printer the pdf writer so I had to change it back to my canon
