Sam do you know the symptoms? (So I can keep a close eye on mine. Had a bit of a stomach upset which is most unusual here, but nothing major.)

All in all enjoyed our trip but thought the show was pretty rubbish!

> sadly my friends hounds picked something up there and one has died and 2 are very ill at the vets in france

Very sorry to hear that.  Hope the 2 remaining make a full recovery.  I am not surprised though, the amount of dog poop left on the ground both inside and outside the venue was sickening.  The camping area had the most disgusting waste disposal arrangements, it was a drain right UNDERNEATH the water tank supply!  We left early on the Friday afternoon instead of staying as planned till Saturday night.  I do alot of shows abroad but have never ever seen anything like Paris.

Jeff said he likes an exciting show.  This was far from exciting, it was stressfull and now we learn harmful to both exhibitors and their dogs.

I've never seen anything like it in my life. The fact though that SOME people at least had TRIED to do the right thing and pick the poo up in bags, then found there weren't any bins whatsoever (so left them on the ground), didn't exactly help. :(

On a more positive note, we stayed in a hotel where every single guest appeared to be a dog exhibitor. Dogs everywhere, yet hardly any poo to be seen! Not sure if it was the owners or the hotel that picked up -we certainly picked ours up of course.

Lea, wewon the "champion bitch" class.  Lets say the judging was "interesting"......it was as bad next door in the beagle ring where the audience were booing the judge!!!

I saw a picture of the Beagle BOB yesterday. It was bloody awful! And it's now a World Champion! God knows how. Many people in the breed are disgusted but at least I know now why many of the top breeders didn't go over!

I thought the amount of poop everywhere was disgusting even when going in on the first day of the show, even more so on the way out the same day.
Can't imagine what it was on the last day!
I have been to a french show before and poop was not an issue so I'm not sure what happened at the worldshow!
Saying this the shows I have been to in France have been breed shows so maybe the owners of my breed do know how to use a poop bag :)...

Did others get their tick&worming done ok?
We went down about 11 o'clock to be told the vet is starting at 1 o'clock(people had appointments for the morning!)!
Went down after judging of my class, the time was about 1.30, the vet was having lunch.
3 hours later they had finlly managed to find the only vet on the showground that could do the passport stamping!
I missed all my breed judging which is why I went there in the first place :(!

i had my 3 done in uk before we left as only going for 24 hour visit. I learned last year at Denmark not to use the show vet when i saw the 2 hour queus! and had mine done in local vet for free!

Sort of. (Time was spot on.) It was no wonder it was free! Went up to the counter, handed over passport, tablets and spot on treatment, passport was signed and stamped before anything was done. Vet:  "What time do you want me to put?" Me: "Eh well it's 5 pm so put that!!!!" Vet:"Give the worming tablets to your dog." (I did -funny how nobody dares go near a Malinois. The lady at the tunnel didn't even want to scan her!) Me: "What about the tick treatment?" Vet: "Do it outside". So nobody even checked that it was done, and they'd have put any time I asked for!

I was at the vets at 5 on the Saturday, 2 competing dogs and one 'pet'. Thought there would be problems with the extra dog, but none at all, I had printed off the emails when making my appointments just in case. There were 4 vets at the counter, working very rapidly in teams of 2 per dog. I was actually quite impressed with the whole affair, much better than paying a fortune at a local vet in France, who seem to take forever going through the passport. I also didn't have to pay to enter the carpark once I had explained I had exhibited the day before, and was just there for the vet.
The poo brigade (cleaners) were out alot of the time clearing up, I did feel so very sorry for them as it was a huge job, and the stink was just awful.
It was my first show, I thoroughly enjoyed it, but felt very bad for the people there who were staying in the camping area.

Oh we flew through at Denmark getting the treatments, no more than 10 minute queues :)

I'm glad to head they did get more vets at the counter, possibly after the disastrous Thursday where people sat waiting for up to 3.5 hours before they could find the vet - The only vet on the venue who had the rights to do passports we were told...

I have to say on Thursday people were saying they will get the vet to put a different time in  for the passport as some had had 10 o'clock appointments so they can catch a ferry next day at midday and were not seen till nearly four o'clock after the vet was finally found!  Lot of upset people in the queue on Thursday!!!

I too gave the treatments myself whilst the vet was doing the passport...

We somehow managed to leave the carpark in a way we did not pay for it!
Drove around in circles for ages and the only way out I found took us straight out :)
