Considering buying UPVC whelping box.Need advice on which ones are best quality and value.Would probably need 48''x48''.That many options when I googled it therefore first hand experience of using them would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I have a Linkabord 1.4m x 1.4m, meduim sized Gundog breed. It has coped really well with litter sizes ranging from 8 to 13. Even a litter of 11 had enough room until they were just over 4 weeks old to use it as a bed and playpen. I have made some modifications to lower the front when the puppies have a play pen as part of the set up.

I have a Linkabord but haven't used it yet.

They will customise one for you if needs be.

I have not got any thing like that, i went for a cardboard whelp box, had one last year and it done really well, mine was 48 x 48 and served me well. I got any one this year my my lab, i find its better to get a new one every time, as i dont think you can get it as clean as you would getting a new one. im not saying linkaboard is the best or its not good as i aint got one, but i just thought its better to get a new one from petnap and mine was about £35.00. Good luck with your litter, hope she has a good whelp.

Best wishes

We bought one from this company, http://www.steelcitywhelpingboxes.co.uk/, they are way way cheaper than any other co. and fantastic quality, and they can make to your requirments. I got a 48x42 and it really is great and folds away when not in use. A friend has a snowsilk, and i would say it is slightly better, but not that better, and they are so exspensive . karen

I have a Steel city whelping box too. Made to measure and delivered to a very short deadline. I had mine made to include a run too.

I'm really pleased with the quality of it and it was so easy to put together and to keep clean.

Brilliant!

We bought a Steel City one for our litter too and it has been fantastic. I think it took about 10 days to arrive. It was one of the cheaper ones we looked at.

Snowsilk.  One box lasted for more than 20 years with no problems.  Plus I prefer and enclosed box for heat retention and security.

It looks like the Linkabord ones but more expensive and they don't do pig rails as an option on the smaller sizes.
