I have just come across this site, while looking for colleges in the North london area that runs courses on dog grooming, health care etc.

I am having difficulty finding a college in london and wondered if anybody had any suggestion.

I live in Muswell Hill, my family have owned Bernese mountain dogs for years so I have basic knowledge of grooming but would like to learn more, as I love working with animals and would like to make a career out of this.

If anyone knows of any courses, I would really appreicate your help.

Hi Kelly, i have just been through this myself (but i live in a diff. area to you) My course starts this wednesday...... :)
it all depends on what sort of course you want to do, the main ones are City & Guilds
NVQ level 3 (i think)
how you want to study to, do you want to do a fulltime course or a part time one ? Do you want to pay & learn quicker ? or take your time & pay a little less ? which ever course you take, it will be long & hard (sorry if that sounds patronising - wasnt meant to)
As first & foremost you have to learn how to handle dogs/cats/rabbits & then how to "groom out" fully before you start on clipping & scissoring
anyway sorry i am rambling now.
you can find out which colleges do the grooming courses by ringing them in your area, or look in the back of the dog papers & look for ones advertised in there (these can be very costly - some are good - some arent )

it took me ages to find out where i could go for my course, which isnt idealy what i want but it will get me to where i want to be EVENTUALY :)
