Hello all, we have come to the conclusion that our Dyson is not up to the job for cleaning up after our dog.....can I ask the opinion of all you doggie lovers what is the best brand, make and model? Thanks in advance....

I use an upright bissell powergroom. Excellent vacuum on a budget. Have had it 6 months and it is fantastic (6 long haired breeds)

Have a Dyson upright and a Miele dog & cat cylinder - the Dyson is very old and still works well ( I have a double coated breed ) think the shorter haired breeds have less hair and it is more difficult to collect. The Miele is very good but far to expensive for me to use except on the odd occasion I have to change the bag twice and I live in a small bungalow (3 dogs)

my miele got replaced with cheapo cylinder machine as although it was excellent at picking up it was too expensive in bags.

Yes Weimed, that is what I find, I do have to empty the Dyson mid clean as well but that costs nothing but the Miele bags are a stupid price and you can't even empty them although I have tried.
I have used Dysons and found them to be not to be as efficient as the adverts tell us!
I now have a Henry - it's cheap, reliable and does the job well.

You can get bags which fit the Miele which are not FROM Miele ;)

I get mine from the local shop, they are universal bags which say on the side which models they fit.

We have had various makes and the Henry we have now is by far the best one we have ever had !

My dyson all floors is brilliant with 2 aussies very pleased with it.

My George picked up from my GSD which believe me took a lot of doing, she moulted like mad by the handful even after brushing. Now with just Boxers, Spaniels and terriers it is easy.

Me too, who makes these cheaper bags? Have looked in the supermarkets but they do not do one that fits.

I´ve always had an Oreck. I think it´s brilliant - and it´s lightweight too, and with an extra long flex. It was ideal for me when I had a carpeted house full of animals. (Doesn´t get much use now as I have tiles and the wind blows all the hairs together in clumps for easy picking-up! LOL)

That would cost me £2 a day, think I will stick to the Dyson.

Confused as usual : is henry the same as hetty james george etc ?
http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=206 shop around you may find an offer cheaper. The Numatic George GVE370 3in1 with A26A Kit has a very strong vacuum, it also washes carpets and has an attachment to scrub stone floors. I am very impressed and have no regrets and it cleans up my dogs hair and muddy footprints very well. It is like the Henry but does all types of cleaning for all types of floor. I am an ex dyson user.
