Topic Dog Boards / General / Newbie intro!

Hey all! Am new here and just thought I'd say hello, hope this is the place to do that as there didnt seem to be an intros section?
It seems like every time I search something dog related on google this place pops up so thought I'd join and have a read.

I'm Sarah and I am owned by a couple of mad huskies, hence the username.
Nukka (my first but youngest) just turned 2 a couple of weeks ago, is a little red and white with blue eyes.. proper little princess and gets away with murder, typical cheeky husky girl.
Shadow is my big bear mummies-boy who I rescued last year is estimated to be around 2 and half, hes my big cuddle monster and I suspect MIGHT have a little mally in him from his size and features.
When weather and trails permit we run with a scooter but we are all very green on this as I don't drive so getting about is tricky and it makes finding good running trails damn near impossible! But am hoping to remedy this with driving lessons and a nice big dog van so hopefully come the new running season in September we'll be out getting some real training under our belt! Shadow is a GREAT runner, listening to every command and is very steady, while Nukka counters this by trying her best to distract him and stop to smell the roses!
Anyway enough about me waffling I'm going to explore! :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.I have 6 mals and 3 Canadian Eskimo dogs which I show and work, though a hand injury has curtailed it somewhat. I have a forestry commission permit that allows me to use my rig in desinated areas at certain times. Jude

Newfienook - Thanks for the welcome, Im sure I will get adicted as I looove to talk dog! :)

Cornishmals - Wow great to hear from other mushers... I'm only a musher in training at the mo but will know who to ask if I have any questions in future! Would be great to hear from you with your expereince at running!
Ooooooh CED's! LOVE!!! Although I have been told they are VERY much working dogs and arn't always the best 'pet' dogs, what is your expereince in that? Are they worked first, pet second or do they make good house dogs too?

My 3 are wonderful house dogs, and very, very loving.I guess it is like other dogs, its how you bring them up.They tend to hug more with their legs,Kezzie will jump up when invited (she knows its rude not to ask first) turn around so her back is to you and wrap her legs around your arms.Oggie is equally loving and is always around my feet.Denzel my 3 legged baby is just a cheeky chappie. They are more inteligent than the mals(who are clever in themselves) but their 'off' button is faulty at times LOL.
PS my huge seal and white mal boy(complete softie and I used him as a stooge dog when I did some rescue work) is called Shadow as well :)

Hi an Welcome.

Another Spitz lover here, this time Elkies (there are a few more of us who post more or less often).

I have 6 of the grey curly tails at present (making 8 owned all told) ranging from 4 month puppy to the current eldest at nearly 14.  I show and cuddle, the sled dogs would require more energy than I have, LOL.

Hi and welcome Sarah. I'm former spitz owner (swedish lapphund), but we currently have an eclectic ( or maybe eccentric :-) ) mix of breeds, bernese, gordon setter and PBGV. You will soon be as addicted as the rest of us but will certainly get great advice on here.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!
I do love my spitz breeds but am a fan of all dogs in general and think this place seems like a really great wealth of knowledge for me to branch out and learn about all breeds, especially as I am hoping to work with dogs in the future!
It also seems like my views on responsible dog ownership are widely held here! My dogs are my furbabies and I live my life around their wellbeing!
I am a big fan of dedicated breed rescues especially and like to help out where I can.. hoping to foster in the next few years when I finnish my animal science degree! :) Anyway am waflling about me again when I just wanted to say thankyou all!! :)
