Topic Other Boards / Foo / Waterproof covers for plaster cast

I am going to be in plaster for at least six weeks from Monday after an operation on my ankle.

With this in mind as I am going to be laid up at home and want to take advantage of the new hotub :-D so can anybody recommend a good robust watertight cover they can recommend as there seem to be a few to choose on the net but not sure which ones are best ?

Thanks

They worked a treat for me.
I used the 'limbo' and would recommend it.
I only used it for showering though, no hot tubs for me haha..I was non weight bearing so not that brave!
Good luck with the op and dont miss any physio. :)

Thanks Karen will have a look. I think I will be able to walk on it but if not Mike will have to hire a JCB to hoist me in and out of it !!

Hi Karen

Out of hospital and I am non weight bearing as well so when you used the shower did you use a stool to sit on ?

I am desperate to have a shower but a bit whizzed out because of the pain meds and struggling walking never mind doing a flamingo impression !

Thanks

When I broke my knee and was plastered from toes to groin I used a Limbo and it was brilliant. Not sure how it would stand up to a hot tub though !!! Lucky you ...i would love one!. The rubber seal round the top is pretty robust but that pesky water gets in anywhere! Hope you are soon on the road to recovery, and glad the op was OK.
Aileen

PS I used a plastic stool to sit on in the shower.

Aileen I the hotub will have to wait as struggling to stagger ten steps never mind even get in and out of bed at the moment !!

Yes, shower seat which I got from local St. John ambulance home service, they have a huge selection of rental aids.
It was a little hairy but totally satisfying, I got from the shower to a strategically placed seat, to sit and dry myself.

Dont stop taking the meds, they keep the inflamation down and need to be kept topped up.

I hope you have good home support, someone top carry a cup of tea whilst you hop on crutches to the nearest seat to [put your leg up!

Karen :)
