Note to self.....stop reading the internet.

Right I have 4 dogs, Bichon 8, Cairn 4, Goldie 7 months and a BC pup 7 weeks. Having just been to a dog show I am getting conflicting advice from food sellers, of course.

They are currently on Burns but someone said to change to Purina Salmo and Rice. I asked purina and they said this food would suit each of my dogs, no need to buy several different bags of it.

I also saw Eukanuba, they claimed theirs was best.

Then CSJ said theirs was better.

I know it is how long is a piece of string so won't ask which is th best but is there one to avoid? What do you feed on?

Thanks

I think the best food is whatever suits your dogs depending on breed/age/activity and your pocket. You've got different breeds but it's possible to find something that suits them all.

I've got 3 different large breeds aged from 1-12 years and their main food is Autarky adult sometimes I give them CSJ lamb and rice and I top it up with Fish4dogs because I think it improves their coats. I usually have some salmon mousse in if I have to hide tablets and I get raw marrowbones and offcuts from the butcher. Luckily my dogs will eat anything (including rabbits and squirrels recently) and all have cast iron guts!

My vets used to promote and sell Hills Science Diet. Now they've swapped to Royal Canin.

If they look well and have firm stools on Burns, don't switch around. But I'd have thought you'll probably need to have large and small dog versions or puppy and senior, with size and age differences like that, so it's not the end of the world if one dog prefers a different brand. I have a different bag for each dog now, 2 on different versions of JWB and the third it hardly matters as she won't eat it anyway!!

This post is a duplicate of one the OP has already posted in FEEDING - see here

Ahh I see it now. i did originally post it on the feeding section as it is feeding related but kept getting a error message. Look like it went through after all.
