Hi
I know someone who has a bitch expecting her 3rd litter . Ist litter was of 4 and whelped normally , 2nd litter of 2 needed cesarean . This 3rd litter is 3 or 4 (buy scan ). I wouldn't have gone for a 3rd myself but she has and has asked for advise . Can anyone advise as to whether this bitch may whelp normally or should she have another C section ? .

It would depend why she needed the C section? If it was simply for a mal presented puppy there is no reason why she should not whelp normally this time.

Thankyou I'll pass this on

Only having 2 pups in the second litter may have meant they were bigger and therefore harder to whelp, if there are more this time then hopefully she will have them normally.

I would keep a close eye as there are other reasons for c/sections and the uterus may be weaker from the previous section and rupture if things don't progress normally, hopefully enough time has elapsed between the last litter and this one for her to have fully healed inside.
