I have a 3 1/2 year old bichon frise named Ozzie. Just last night he has started chewing a bone through the whole night which he has never done before. Now tonight he is starting again. He kept my hubby and I awake all night with this chewing. Don't know why he has all of a sudden started doing this. He has always chewed a nylobone at times but not to this extent. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the reason for them doing it and how did you get them to stop?
Know exactly what you mean! I have just got back from staying with my brother for a few days and he gave his dog a juicy bone and tramped off to bed leaving me to sleep in the room next to the kitchen listening to gnawing for hours Take him out for some exercise before you go to bed or play with him a lot so he is tired, then take the nylabone away overnight - have a good nights sleep and give it back to him in the morning :)
Dogs will sometimes chew to releive pain or stress - I did a consultation witha JRT once who was chewing the door - but only with one side of his jaw - the other side had an abscess......
