Has anyone who has entered the WDS heard anything back yet? I entered via the post/bank transfer and I've heard absolutely nothing, and the website hasn't been updated for ages and even still says you can enter even though the last date is long since gone. Bit bad I think! I e-mailed them a while ago to ask if there definitely would be a vet at the show able to carry out the worming/Frontline treatment for pets passports for dogs from the UK and they said all UK exhibitors would be sent an e-mail with info before the show, to be able to book a time with the vet in advance. I just feel they are starting to cut it all a bit fine with less than 3 weeks to go.
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 19.06.11 16:10 UTC
I was thinking the same thing Marianne, cutting it a bit fine. I will e-mail some friends in France and ask if they have heard anything yet and let you know.
- By harkback Date 19.06.11 16:18 UTC
The statistics (entry numbers) went up yesterday.  But nothing else.  I have not had anything at all from them, not even a pass for motorhome parking that was paid for 7 months ago.  Only the original confirmation emails sent to me as an automatic reply at time of booking, and ditto for my entries.  They also have some bizarre ring numbers up on the statistics.  Several breeds with judges for each sex are in a ring say in the 20's or 30's for males, and then ring 70 or 80 something for the females.  But the halls plans only go up to ring number 20!
- By harkback Date 19.06.11 16:56 UTC
Just asked a friend in Germany and she said she asked the WDS stand officials in Dortmund last month and was told all passes were being sent out 10 days before the start of the show. Cutting a bit fine as it takes 3 - 4 days for European mail to reach us at least and some people I know from the UK are leaving 7 days ahead of the show to make a bit of a holiday out of the trip.
- By klb [gb] Date 19.06.11 20:19 UTC
I also have not had any info from WDS, paided entries by credit card and that has been charged. Put a copy of bill will my show stuff as proof of payment and will hope the passes arrive in time .  Also had nothing re passport stuff yet....... may be a fun event. Do we have any Champdogs members going to the show who are a whizz with French, we may be in need of linguistic help !!
- By Goldmali Date 19.06.11 21:08 UTC
The statistics (entry numbers) went up yesterday.

Where? I've been checking the website twice a day! All I can find is saying how many dogs entered so far and that's been the same figure since before entries closed.
- By harkback Date 19.06.11 21:15 UTC
I queried their veterinary requirements (though having a button for English translation next to it the only version is in French) as it states the normal French rabies law of a booster to be given annually.  They did reply (in French) that the passport for each dog would be accepted within the originating country laws, i.e. for the UK booster every 2 yrs, so I have printed off the reply and shall take it with me.

I show abroad regularly, at least 8 times a year, and I have to say I am very dissapointed in the organisation of this show so far.  I hope my mind is changed by the time our classes start but the way things are going I doubt it.  Even the statistics and ring numbers already are completely screwed up across various breeds.  And for months they had us down with the wrong judges on the website, the printed schedule was correct but even showing the schedule to the WDS stand in Brussels last year did not make them correct it online.  Only cedia had the correct version.

At this point I am thinking roll on Austria and 2012.!

TO GOLDMALI

http://www.worlddogshow2011.fr/en/pages/entry-form-world-competition/24

Click on summary of dogs entered.  If it does not come up with a complete page go back, click on Show's tarrif and class description, then go back and click on summary of dogs entered and it will bring up a drop down box and scroll down for your breed.  DON'T ask me why it works that way because much of everything else on the WDS site is bizarre anyway.
- By Goldmali Date 19.06.11 21:41 UTC
Thanks ever so much Harkback, I'd never have found it on my own!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 19.06.11 22:01 UTC
Well glad I didn't take advantage of Inka's pet passport with just 7 dog entered.
- By welshie [gb] Date 20.06.11 11:24 UTC
dead envious of you all going i cant go abroad until after 16/9 2011 when rabies inj 6 months is up so anyone have a list of dog sahows abroad after that time please
- By harkback Date 20.06.11 11:34 UTC
http://doglle.com/  Has most of the Belgium shows, and a very good variety in the rest of Europe.  Particularly the really big ones though Germany and France the show entries are usually linked through VDH and Cedia (see below), but they do list the show dates on doglle even if they do not have online entry or schedules for them.

http://cedia.fr/  For all French shows

http://www.vdh.de/  For all German shows

http://www.raadvanbeheer.nl/  Netherlands KC

http://www.dogshowsonline.be/home.aspx   Another show list and entry portal for Belgium (but I find Doglle better personally).

http://www.fci.be/expositions.aspx  This is lists of all FCI (CACIB) shows and has links to most of the section shows now and for the next few years.

Hope this is enough to be going on with!  Shout if you want Scandinavia or others.

> Well glad I didn't take advantage of Inka's pet passport with just 7 dog entered.

I am surprised at how low some of the breed entries are.  I know ours are low as we have a French judge which says it all and it is less than half of what I would have thought with a different judge.  We had more last month in Dortmund, and Denmark last year. But I wanted to go anyway as I have alot of friends coming over from America and Australia for the show so it will be a big social rather than a serious exhibition for me as I know we have not chance of winning anything.  There must be some seriously high entries somewhere though for the total to exceed 32,000 but I have not trawled through all of them yet.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 20.06.11 12:06 UTC
I wonder if that figure is entries (not dogs) and includes the non breed entries.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 20.06.11 12:18 UTC
Looked at the Group totals:
Grp 1. 2595 chiens
Grp 2. 4457
Grp 3. 2774
Grp 4. 825
Grp 5. 2043
Grp 6. 1177
Grp 7. 991
Grp 8. 1733
Grp 9. 3734
Grp 10. 1084

Total:  21413

Crufts gets that sort of entry even with a restricted entry (having to qualify)
- By Goldmali Date 20.06.11 14:16 UTC
There's 33 Malinois which is, for some odd reason, the magic number it seems, Crufts has had 33 several years running, WDS in Sweden had 33, the main breed club champshow has often had 33 -odd as it isn't the same dogs and same people. But I HAD expected more this time as you could so easily get exhibitors from France, the UK,  Holland and Belgium and obviously in France, Holland and Belgium you normally get MUCH bigger Malinois entries at shows than here. I had expected at least 50.
- By klb [pt] Date 20.06.11 17:44 UTC
Argh .. I can get the pages with entry details to load :(   On a plus point however I did get a letter today asking me to book my Vet appointments for the passport :)
- By harkback Date 20.06.11 18:16 UTC

> Argh .. I can get the pages with entry details to load

I put in a previous post above how to get them up.  For some reason you have to in and out of show details first via the cedia page.

- By sam Date 21.06.11 20:48 UTC

No, I have had nothing but then I was not expecting to be booking an appointment as how do you know what time you'll be able to make it when you don't know how quickly/slowly the ring will be going...
Usually it is just form an orderly line and get them done when needed as it only takes a minute??

- By Goldmali Date 21.06.11 22:03 UTC

Relieved to hear not everyone has heard back yet. They did tell me when I e-mailed them a while ago appointments would be needed. (Don't really see WHY, it's a quick job!) I guess it's going to be a bit difficult because as you say how do you know when the judging is finished -plus of course you have to make sure it is 24-48 hours before you go back home.
- By loobyloo2 [gb] Date 21.06.11 22:06 UTC
I will be showing on the Thursday and Friday, but not leaving France until the Monday, so being able to make an appointment for the Saturday late afternoon is a great idea for me. They gave a choice of which day and whether you need an AM or PM appointment. I was also able to tell them that I will have an extra dog needing to see the vet, so in my case this will save a fortune and save me running around Paris trying to locate a vet. You can either phone or email to book your slot.
- By Noora Date 22.06.11 12:23 UTC
would you have an email address we can email to book?
Also, did they provide any details e.g. cost of it etc?
- By Goldmali Date 22.06.11 12:27 UTC
I got my letter about the vet appointments today -phew. It does not mention costs. E-mail caroline.gurtner@centrale-canine.fr phone 0033149375468
- By della [gb] Date 22.06.11 12:49 UTC
Is the list of Group Judges for both shows available on-line?
- By sam Date 22.06.11 15:21 UTC
i had my letter as well today. Last year it was about 30 eioros a dog if i remember?.....this year we are getting the tick/flea done before we leave uk so we can go over and back in 24 hour trip :)
- By Goldmali Date 22.06.11 16:09 UTC
Cheers  Sam. We did consider going back within 48 hrs but wanted to do a little bit of sightseeing the day after the show -can't not have a photo of Ripley with the eiffel tower in the background, LOL.
- By harkback Date 22.06.11 16:46 UTC

> Last year it was about 30 eioros a dog if i remember

If you mean WDS Herning, Denmark it was 25 Euro per exhibitor.
- By sam Date 22.06.11 18:49 UTC
well i was close then wasnt I!?
- By klb [es] Date 22.06.11 19:24 UTC
In Luxembourg this March we were charged 40 euro's ..never had to pay that much before so going well prepared for a shock !!
- By loobyloo2 [gb] Date 22.06.11 23:21 UTC Edited 22.06.11 23:25 UTC
It's free.
- By Toller [gb] Date 23.06.11 10:45 UTC
Just booked my appointment for thursday afternoon and it's free :)
- By Noora Date 23.06.11 12:48 UTC
I got the letter today as well :)
When people say it is free I take it you will provide the treatments yourself and the vet administered and signs the paperwork...
I must remember to take the stuff with me or would it be cheaper to buy from the show does anybody know the pricing of such items in France?
I have a feeling things like that are much cheaper over there?
- By loobyloo2 [gb] Date 23.06.11 13:06 UTC
Yes, the passport stamping is free, you do need to provide your own treatments.
First show for me so can't help about buying at the show, but.... from holiday experiences,France is generally cheaper than UK to buy Frontline etc.
HTH
- By Goldmali Date 23.06.11 14:06 UTC
Got my appointment and I quote from the e-mail I received back:
This service is free of charge for the exhibitors but it will be easier if you can provide your own treatment.

I will just play safe and get it from my own vet. Don't want to suddenly find they have run out everywhere in France.
- By klb [gb] Date 23.06.11 15:43 UTC
Now I am worried ..LOL.  Emiled to book my appoiontment 21st June but had no email back :(

- By loobyloo2 [gb] Date 23.06.11 17:06 UTC
Hi K
Email them again, my response was pretty much instant.
- By harkback Date 23.06.11 17:21 UTC
They now have revised hall and rings plans up.  http://www.worlddogshow2011.fr/assets/images/WDS%202011_Plan_Index.pdf

I hope you all are better off than us and we have males being judged in one ring in hall 5, then females in another hall in another ring about as far apart on the show plan as they possibly could have made it!  There are going to be some very angry exhibitors, let alone spectators who are travelling from as far as American and Australia and Japan to see our breed and they will have no chance of seeing both at once.
- By Goldmali Date 23.06.11 18:28 UTC
Sorry for being thick but how do you know what ring you're in??
- By klb [gb] Date 23.06.11 19:14 UTC
Click Statistique des chiens
one next page select group you want
fromlist click on the breed
table will display showing classes / judge/ no dogs in each class/ ring number / estimated hr of judging ( still to be announced)

- By harkback Date 23.06.11 20:52 UTC

> estimated hr of judging ( still to be announced)

As the Championnat and the WDS are running at the same time in the same venue all the Championnat classes start at 8.30am, WDS not before 12.30pm.  So groups for WDS at what time???  It is going to be a loooooooooong day for the WDS entries.  Also a chaotic.  Some Championnat breeds will no way be finished by 12.30pm for the WDS breed in the same ring that day.  I will get there 1st thing as the doors open to claim benching but not being in before 12.30 is a long time.  But if you don't claim benching that early then the Championnat breed in your ring in the morning will grab them and use them all day.
- By klb [gb] Date 23.06.11 20:59 UTC
Yep I agree .. will be there on both days at doors opening to get a bench. I am relatively lucky as Championait on Sat judging starts at 8.30 and Sunday WS judging starts 9.30 so hopefully we will be inthe ring at reasonable time. Fingers crossed.

Just hope the groups / BIS are not too late on Sunday as I have a late train back to Uk Sunday ... not that I expect to be participating but would like to see it :)

- By loobyloo2 [gb] Date 24.06.11 15:22 UTC
Exhibitors Pass arrived in the post today.
Says to take identification and health papers with you.
Would that be photocopies or originals?
What health papers do you take? I only understood it to be the rabies (passport) that they required? Do they require anything else?
Thanks
