Ive found in the last 3 months that whenever I drink alcohol I get a migraine feeling about an hour or so after drinking. It can be as little as one glass of wine before it starts. Anyone else heard of this? It gets so bad that I have to go to bed. Ive tried taking Paracetamol but that doesnt do anything.

Have you tried drinking more to see if it goes away?! ;) My friend used to be able to drink absolutely fine, then she didnt drink for a while with having a baby and now she cant touch a drop as she gets the same headache you describe.

Don't drink white wine anymore as I used to get headaches after it.  Never used to like red but do now.

I know someone who suffered the same, they changed to organic white wine and it improved

I used to be the opposite :-D only had to look at red wine to feel heady, red wine really doesn't agree with me. But white wine has also started to give me a heady effect too these last couple of years, so your not alone Tracey123, I'm strangely ok with sparkling wines and some makes of champers for some reason and shorts with added mixers, still feel happy with those. So not a total loss.

When you work it out let me know, used to like my white wine.

Do you always get a hangover an hour after your first drink?
- By Boody Date 19.06.11 20:00 UTC
I do, as i don't drink even a few sips makes my liver start to scream out in pain at the thought of being all shrivelled and dehydrated lol, so now i don't even bother with a glass.

Yup, If  I stick to bacardi and coke all is often ok but not always.
But, wine, champagne, guiness or anything with an alcohol base (think rescue remedy) all do this to me.
I have tried and tried over the years, but should really not bother!
I get migraine from other things too and badly, taking a prophylactic (SP) daily to try and prevent them.
But I do enjoy bacardi and cokes sometimes  :)

I gave up alcohol after finding that I would get a funny heartbeat when trying to get to sleep after drinking. I also Would get a sore throat within an hour of a drink and one glass of wine would make me drunk and tired , so I don't bother now . I think it's called old age !!!

yes you can get a hangover an hour after drinking, it all depends on how your body deals with alcohol and your body changes over the years too

Its not just wine it can happen from other things as well. Just had a small glass of peach schapps and lemonade and feel fine....not gonna push it though lol.

Tina - If I thought it was a hangover I wouldnt have posted on here - durr!

I would say it is probably to do with metabolism and hydration.

A friend like to drink wine, but always has a glass of water too.

Do you suffer from headaches or similar at any other times Ali?

I went through a period of migraines and dizzy spells, currently on medication and can now drink. Before I was ok on drinking alcohol until I had a bad turn not long after I finished drinking about Rachel's place just before Xmas I think it was? Migraine like it was and never had that before, and no it wasn't a hangover!! lol.. I've suffered many of those and thats why I don't tend to drink much these days as I do suffer from them the next day :-(
- By JeanSW Date 19.06.11 23:51 UTC
Yes, I've experienced the same.

And I have never had a headache since packing up booze.

I'm not sure if organic wine contains sulphites but I read that that is what can trigger headaches.

I never got a hangover from drinking champagne when I was younger but nowadays I don't like the disturbed sleep if I have anything alcoholic.

Yeh I never bother with the glass either, just swig straight from the bottle hic hic hic ;)

look at it any way you want to--its still a hangover ie. result of drinking too much alcohol for your body
