Wouldn't mind some input into this one. I have an 8 week old pup which I brought home the other day. Now I am normally the one to give advice to my puppy owners but this one has me stumped. I have sent a sample into the Vets and there is no cystitis but, pup gets up from sleep, play etc and wees. However, there might be only 10 mins between wees. She can go throughout the night if she isn't disturbed but once up then the floodgates open!!. She doesn't seem to be able to hold any water, she is doing little wees instead on say one long wee and then able to go longer periods. Once in the garden, she did a wee at the bottom of the garden and by the time we walked up the garden to come in she had stooped again. Garden isn't even BIG.
Any thoughts on this one as my pups have always been able to hold for say an hour before needing taking out. You daren't let her just wander out of the room because you never know if it is a false alarm and she is going for a mooch or going to wee in the Hall. Anyone had this before. She has the poos cracked and will always go to the back door to go out for them so she is quite a clued up pup.

There is little bladder control at 8 week in may cases it is not till they till 6 months and there are those who take longer to be totally in control - think you have a normal 8 week old puppy who has early control of it's anus this may laps when it starts shedding teeth..

My Inka was like this until about 5 months and even after that before she had her first season she didn't seem to be able to hold on fro long during waking hours, no sooner was my back turned and there she was another puddle, but was great all night.

All came right after her first season, until which time she had the tiniest vulva I have ever seen, (it seemed to be liek a newborns) you virtually couldn't see it between her very well muscled thighs.

I now have her 4 month old daugther who to all intents and purposes has been relaible from 12 weeks if not left for more than a couple of hours during the day and goes a good 9 hours at night.  Her lady bits are more obvious than Mum's at this age.

Thanks Barbara. Never had it before with one of my pups, they could always hold out for more than 10 mins. Nice to know that others have experienced this sort of thing. We are lucky in that we can watch her all the time but I was concerned that she was going so often. She is such a good pup in every other aspect and she is so clued in.
I am quite well aware that she is a very young pup, it was not about the cleaning up, it was about how often she is having to go. Sometimes squatting and literally nothing coming out.

I would have her checked for cystitis though, but nothing came back with Inka.

Have done that already and they say no cystitis but have given me Synulox just in case. Nothing has changed though. The problem also is following her everywhere (just in case) is not helping her training as I am not giving her a chance to learn, poor little mite.
