My bitch is normally regular with her seasons, she was due in over a week ago but so far there is no signs of the start being imminent.
Why does it happen on the season that I plan to breed her on? Bloomin heck, i am trying not to worry too much but if she isnt in soon then i will probably have to delay it until her next season which isnt ideal!
I was lucky with my bitch she has been spot on every season, We have mated her this time as I was watching for signs of her comming in for ages lol as east as it sounds try not to worry lol

Sophie was like clockwork until the stud was booked then she was a month late :)

I have had bitches that are normally pretty regular both late (up to two months) and early (over a month) mucking up breeding plans, LOL

Ok, i am now wanting her to delay. We have kennel cough in the house :( One of my males is coughing, been to the vet and it is kennel cough. Vet has advised to seperate them totally and hope my bitch doesnt contract it. Pretty sure it is too late now though as she just had a little cough. Will get antibiotics for her tomorrow.
Where does this leave me with breeding plans? Obviously she hasnt come into season yet, common sense would tell me that its not a good idea for her to be covered when she is suffering/recovering from a bout. I just don't know- she is fit, healthy(aside from this) and young.
how awful, hope your boy is okay.. and hope your girl stays well.
as far as mating her i dont know about that i remember my girl picking KC up but caught early and given AB's she actually only coughed the first day and didn't really seem to affected at all luckly, so i guess it would depend on how bad your dogs pick it up, her being ill could possibly delay her more anyway.
my last girl was nearly 3months late lol o the joys i was going mentle but was worth the wait in the end ,ive also had a girl in whelp get cc not nice but she was ok thank goodness ,all the best hope your boy is ok and your girl dont get it xx

Still no signs of her coming in :( Why d they do this to us?!!

I too am sitting patiently waiting for 2 of my girls to come in, they go 6-8 months so we are one month into that time scale and nothing doing.
You will just have to be patient as they say a watched pot never boils.

FINALLY! She has come into season today, after a few false alarms this definitely is it! (think chainsaw masacre style!) Now lets just hope everything else goes to plan!

Good luck, I'm just about to be a midwife LOL!
My youngest bitch is over 12 months and still no season!! She's a collie and I don't think she's even had a clear season. She's being a tart and keeping us all waiting!
But why is it that the pedigree bitches for breeding muck and mess about, whilst the lovelymutts of the world ahve seasons bang on time??!! I've noticed it happening more frequently that pedigree bitches seem to be taking longer to have seasons and longer in between? Better nutrition should surely have the opposite effect?

Ha ha!! dont despair.I have a bitch who was three weeks off three years old before she had a season. She then went almost 14 months before her second season and she has been mated. We know she ovulated so its fingers crossed now for a very longed for litter.

Book a holiday or plan a wedding and you can almost bet your money on her coming in then! :-&

Congrats! My girl was 5 weeks late after 4 years of being like clockwork. And we were travelling to Sweden to breed so all our plans went out the window and were changed a few times LOL. However she is now 6.5 weeks along and we're quite excited.
I hope after this long wait that you have the same success that we had in the end :) Good luck!

Thankyou, I am using my own male on her who is experienced so fingers crossed we dont miss! She is being such a tart already but my male is 100% not interested yet and keeps going into hiding to get away from her advances! Lol.
I think its worse waiting for ovulation!
Good luck :)
maybe I should come over and waft my bitch under her nose, might give her ideas!!!
I went away skiing in January which should have been around her first season, I was terrified she would come into season, but no!! Guess I'll have to be patient and wait.Gives me chance to sort out her health checks I guess!! She lives with 2 boys as well but they are both neutered which probably doesn't help.

Lucky you, my two have come into season just before we are going on holiday. Luckily I have a friend who only has one bitch herself so is fine to take them, but I'm worried about her lovely carpets and sofa..... Not that my two are particularly messy, but if you're houseproud (I'm not!) even a spot of blood is probably bad!
I'm sure your friend willbe fine with it.WE do homeboarding here and bitches in season happen. I used to be a vet nurse but I'm house proud amyways but it's nothing a sponge and steam cleaner won't sort out!! Although we have cushion flooring nearly everywhere excpet for living room which I would love but hubbie refuses.

I had kind of the same issue this year with my female. Except she came into season early. Our pup form the last litter came into season, and triggered her a little over a month early.
I'm on the way!! Getting my car keys I'lljust waft my girl under their noses maybe she'll come into season.

I have 3 shows booked for October, one of which is a breed Championship show in Scotland, and I'm terrified my new puppy will come into season that month.
She will be 8 months then and 8months+ is the most usual age for a first season in my breed, though a bitch from eher Mum's last liter came in at 6 months.
She's welcome to come in the day after (Midland counties so she's finished by LKA).
With the high cost of entries that's a lot of money to throw away.
