Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / pale green discharge day 13 after mating
- By houndgirl81 Date 15.06.11 19:53 UTC
My bitch was mated 13 days ago, I have noticed a small ammount of pale green discharge from her, is this likley to be a sign of infection or can it be normal, also do you watch and wait or risk taking them to the vets for a check up , i'm really bothered about taking her to the vets clinic incase she picks something up..

I would get her to the vet asap if there's any chance she has an infection, (green isn't normal !!!) at this stage she can have antibiotics to clear the infection before it can do any harm hopefully. Good Luck.

I agree, get her to the vet, make sure you say she may be in whelp so they give a same antibiotic, and don't panic too much - my girl had an infection post-mating in spite of being on Synulox and still had healthy (if small) litters both times.

she has been to the vet, temp normal ( vet never said it was raised after checking ) she's eating and drinking, she seems fine in herself, wagging her tail etc.

she looked at her bits and took some discharge out and said its a bit mucusy and milky green, she didnt seem very concerned and said she would perscribe her Noroclav 250mg for 7 days just to be on the safe side.

It's good you have had her checked over  :0) ......... but do keep a close eye on her as my bitch had no temp and was eating & drinking perfectly normally .

Then on day 16 ( post mate ) she had slight brownish discharge nothing much and the same evening we were at the emergancy vet as the discharge had become a vile green colour and was alot more than earlier , she was also being sick with blood content we were given antibiotics she then went on to have severe runs for nearly 3 weeks....... through all of this she was still eating and drinking fine .

It was our 1st litter , she did go on to produce 2 pups but only one survived , we lost the other little girl 8 days after birth. We kept the other girl and she is such a big strong healthy girl is untrue :0)

I will just say that the vet believed it not to be anything thing to do with the pregnancy and said it was just bad luck that she had caught a virus , because my other dogs also ended up with the runs but no where near as bad .

I just think i am so lucky to be able to say i have my one special girl , you would never think she came from such a poorly mummy .

thanks will keep a close eye on her..!

she is my WORLD this dog, i am SOOOOOOOOO soft on her and panic so much about stressing her out etc by taking her into vets to get poked and prodded, i want her to remain as tranquil as possible lol lol i would hat for anything to happen to her.

have to keep my fingers crossed that she is fine and is going to be a mummy.
