Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Progesterone test

Has anybody been told not to feed their bitch before testing for progesterone levels? only the vet I spoke to the other day said to starve her and I forgot and gave her breakfast and only remembered I was suppose to starve her after the test was taken, but the nurses said it would be fine. So I am now worried in case it affects the result.

Never been told that before....

Never heard or read that anywhere before.  Can't see how that could possibly have any affect on Progsterone levels.  I wouldn't worry.

They should be back same day - chase them - just in case you've to get organised quickly.....

The vets are sending them to Idexx today and have said results will be back tomorrow. She is on day eight and we have a 7hr drive to the stud dog which is why we are testing this time.

Oh good luck.  I've never been told not to feed before.  Larry's really good and he usually phones me at about 3 ish the day after I've sent the bloods and advised on what to do.
