Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / fishmongers dry dog food p@h

Just popped in to Pets at home and noticed this. Didnt have time to look thoroughly at what was in it but at a glance it seemed quite good. High fish content and not too much potato - 1.5k - £5.99.
Thought I would have a look on the net when I got back but can only find P@H treats by the same name.
Anyone know anything about this food?

Can't help but wonder if it is Fish4Dogs rebranded. The fish skins in the Fishmongers range look decidely familiar.

The skin chunks and braids definately look like fish4dogs of which my GR pup is a HUGE fan so I will get him to test! Will see how it all compares pricewise too.

Looks very much like the ingredients of F4Ds  at the price I still think Wafcol is the better option of them all.

Missed this original post and came back today from PAH with a small packet, has anyone tried it?  See on another forum that some dog foods with fish contain Ethoxyquin which is not good (apparently NOT in F4D, Arden Grange, Acana & Origen), does anyone know why?

Ethoxyquin is used as a preservative and anti-oxidant in animal foods - but is considered highly dubious and possibly carcenogenic - Google for more info. It was originally used as a rubber preservative!

Did Google, but missed the rubber preservative!

The skin chunks and braids seem as good as F4D as far as my dog is concerned but my feeling is the food itself doesnt quite compare as well and he didnt like it as much either but compared to many brands I guess its still quite good quality if you are looking for a good fish no nonsense food.

Funny you should post this. I feed raw with the occasional F4D kibble meal. Ive run out of both and delivery from Daf and f4d wasnt for a few days so I set off to Morrissons for chick wings, sardines and anything else I could get my hands on. I went into PAH and saw this food, was impressed with the ingedients ( very similar as F4D) so bought it, a shade under £30 for 10 kgs. RESULT....the dogs wolfed it down, even the picky eater. I now know I can get kibble locally that the dogs love, if I run out and forget to order.

Thought I would follow this up. After using it for a couple of weeks have had to stop as suddenly both dogs have become very red, itchy & licking paws badly.

I've been feeding my dogs Fishmongers 60% salmon for a few months now and they're thriving on it.  Two of my springers have arthritis and the Salmon and Potato has definitely improved their mobility.
