Just wondered if anyone else does a "drugs search"exercise in their training class?Id been using a small food filled container as the "drugs",thenI read somewhere that you can use a catnip mouse - more "drug like".I ordered a few from ebay, helping a charity at the same time,as a lady knits and fills them herself, and sells them to raise funds for a cat charity.Tried one out this morning-brilliant,worked a treat!

One of mine is a failed police dog, he was trained in drugs/money and explosives but failed as he was too hyper and unreliable with his marking (if you have ever seen active police search dogs then you will realise just how hyper he had to be to fail!! lol ).
He lives to work though i am trying to train him away from the marking of drugs and money (his favourate is when walking past cash points to stop and freeze in front of people- or just the cash point lol, and last week 'froze' in front of some rather not-nice looking teenagers on a park bench that were ermmm 'smoking' !! ).

I love working mine with scent, they love it and there is nothing more pleased than a collie or spaniel that has found the item!

LOL! I must admit I was a bit apprehensive the first time I took my rescued Malinois along Glastonbury High Street, she's clearly been a working dog in the past in some capacity, I had no idea what she might do when passing certain people!

good job you dont live round here he would spend rather a lot of time frozen to the spot. Mind it might scare a few undesirables to move on lol
