Topic Dog Boards / Health / Horrid coat 12 weeks after pups

Hi All,
My bitch is in great health - but her coat looks like she is a welfare dog! its coarse and wirey and coming out in clumps - i know we just have to ride the storm so to speak - but are there any foods or supplements i can give to help things along???

This is perfectly normal, first the undercoat goes, then the top coat, which makes it seem like wire wool.

I keep my bitches on puppy food until the coats start to come back.

My girl is 16 weeks since her litter and it is just past the wire wool stage with fresh new coat coming in, so she is now on a good adult food.

Thanks Brainless - we took her off the puppy food as she was choking on it (Giant breed and usually has RC giant kibble) - glad its normal, just she looks abused bless her!

Yep, I called it the Chinese Crested look with my girl, she was so bald you could see the skin on her throat and bum! :-D
