Topic Other Boards / Foo / Going back To Work. Help!!!!

I am having to return to the work force, in fact I may well be looking for a night job as well as a day job.
I was just applying on line for one and they have asked for details of my last 5 jobs and start and finish dates. I honestly can't remember any dates month or year, start or finish so what can I do?, as I don't want to come across as useless and thick before I even get going and any job I apply for I will have to give this information.
I was also thinking of working for myself as another option. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to sort Tax and NI etc as don't want to end up in a pickle financially with them?
Thank you

Info about self employment there: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/startingup/

Easiest thing to do is ring the newly self employed hotline though (number on that link), they can talk you through it :-)

If you make sure you register for N.I and tax right at the beginning (take note of the date as thats when you start being self employed and make your accounts up to each year) and are able to save all receipts safely and write down your income and expenses each week without fail to keep records for your end of year account, keep all records of any interest on savings before and after tax for the end of year records (or you wont find them!) and write your work mileage (but not including from home to office if you have one) and keep some money aside for your tax bill you may owe then its fine and not difficult at all. Better still..get a bookeeper! Good luck whatever you decide!
