I am actually pleasantly surprised at the cost and quality of service I received at the PAH in-house vet. I phoned my usual vet on tuesday to book my pup in for his vaccs and enquired about the cost which was £58. Straight forward vaccs, nothing included. Well, I made the appointment for later that day but I needed puppyfood from PAH so I put the pup in the cage and off we went(don't like to leave him alone yet!). When I got to PAH, my nose bothered me about the service and cost as soon as I found out they now have a surgery.
£60 for puppy vaccinations, but wait for it.....included in the price was full vaccinations, advantix flea and wormer, 4 weeks free insurance, puppy pack with food samples and booklets, and half price microchipping(£10).
I got an appointment straight away and brought the pup in. Now, I knew he had a skin problem, but it was totally a food allergy problem and as I was changing to a new food I wasn't concerned about treatment(but my vet would had me with drops and anti-biotics!!). Neither was the vet!! Told me to try changing his food, had I thought about raw, etc.
Brilliant service and very doubtful whether I will be back at my usual vet.
Also, told me that he wouldn't consider neutering him till he was 2 yrs(he's very large breed). Amazed I wasn't talked into booking him in for that too.
Shocked and speechless at such a good service not trying to fleece me!!!

OMG - two things you don't hear vets say very often!!!

Have to say I've used PAH vets and have been really happy with them, very friendly, spoke to me as a breeder rather than somebody who didn't have a clue, even asked ME questions that he would normally answer to a new owner. At the time, they had an offer on, if you had your pups vaccinated you had the micro-chipping done free. So will definitely use them again.
Wow that pretty good. Can I ask which PAH?
As i understand it, they are a normal vets practice just that they use the PAH building they are in no way employed by PAH. So like with anything it will vary.

Yes - I used to use them and one partner was very good, the other ....... well Tara nearly lost her leg because of him :(

I use the one in Stockport and find them fantastic - they are not linked to PAH other than they share buildings.
The ones I use are well priced and so lovely - I had two rats PTS last week and this week I received a beautiful card from them and a packet of Forget Me Not seeds - my old vet wouldn't have done that.
> packet of Forget Me Not seeds
you have just given me a fantastic idea, i've been trying to find a rose / plant to remember our old lab. I'm going to have a look at forget me nots now see how big they are etc as i have a perfect pot too. Sorry for your loss xx
I use them as well. Although I don't rate the PAH staff, the vets there have always been helpful & knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this practise.
Do check what their out of hours service is though, our local PAH is about 30 minutes away from here, but the out of hours service is well over an hour away, not good if you have an emergency.

Oh, good point lucyandmeg. My Out of hours service is an hour away too but I am going to use my own vet from now on, I just used PAH for the puppy vacs as they were cheaper and easier(Iwas there!!)
