Please bear with me this is going to sound really silly
.I have bought one courgette plant with the idea of growing it in a grobag.,I have grown gourds before and marrows which take up loads of room. I havnt got loads of room and am now wondering how much room the plant will take up, also do they spread or can the climb up trelllis
I have also decided its going in the front garden because silly me forgot how little paws love digging up plants. the rest of my bedding plants and the pepper and chilli plants are going in hanging baskets as a puppy defense. The tomatoes however may be a problem having got upright ones insted of hanging ones doh !

I grow my courgettes in smal plastic dustbins, about 2 foot high one plant at per tub so a grobag would be fine. They spill out over the tub edge and keep me in courgettes until late Autumn. This year I am doing pumpkins and courgettes.

Never mind the little paws, I'd be worrying about the slime brigade--slugs adore courgettes and are amazingly resourceful at getting gourmet dinners at our expense.

I am growing mine in the patio sacks (which also do for spuds) and they seem to be thriving. Also have 2 extra plants in big tubs along with pumpkins (an experiment). They are not doing as well in the pots but OK. I wonder if a growbag would be deep enough though? You can get a variety called Black Forest (I think it was on Chelsea) and it is a climber. I tried to order it from a well known company website but they had sold out.

Few slugs/snails here this year due to the extreeme drought I assume.

They must all be with us then as I have lost countless plants so far !

I have just replanted new plants at the weekend and they seem to be so far intact !

I have three types courgettes, the one I love is an Italian cury one which has super flavour, and pumpkins and three different types of squashes.

I always grow far too many but have a table outside my front gate with a honesty box and additional veg that is surplus to requirements (if the girls havent helped themselves to them ! ) and then all the momey goes towards my charity of the year as like to donate to different ones each year when I can.

growling courgettes I love it. Yes I did resort to a hanging basket at least to get the plant going as the slimy ones attacked 2 of the few leaves the young plant has. I also have put my lettuce in a hanging basket for the same region. mind I am convinced the slugs and snails here can fly !!!
Shame I cant pass by your garden LJS I would love some of your surplus veg
