More help of the feline variety needed!
My 4 year old cat was sick overnight on Friday (cream carpets were a brilliant idea) and on Saturday spent most of the day sleeping and as it was hot i didn't think too much of it really. She didn't want to eat so i just let her get on with it, then on Sunday she tried to eat just a tiny piece of meat and was sick almost immediately afterwards. This morning the same thing. I've looked at the sick (yuk) and its mostly liquid, not much fur but some of it has bits of grass. (Hope you're not eating). I don't know if she is drinking water as she always drinks from the dog's bowl so difficult to know. I'm taking her to the vet this evening but just wondered if anyone had any ideas.
Thanks.

Sounds like a stuck hairball. Sometimes it can take a few days for one to pass and they can be like this then (certainly one of our Maine Coons is, acts unwell etc, as his hairballs are the size of rats!) -then once passed they go back to normal.
Thanks. You have given me some reassurance as i was imagining all sorts of things. She is a bit lethargic but i suppose she would be if she is feeling under the weather.

have you done the skin test for dehydration? you pinch a bit of the fur up and it should go straight back down, if stays up tented going back very slow then the animal is lacking fluids.
if you do that test and find she is lacking I would be moving the vet appointment forward.
Thanks for the advice, i'll leave work early and go sort her out.

They used to recommend liquid paraffin for furballs is thatr still the case, could check with your vet unless someone like goldimal knows. Furballs can be dodgy so dont leave her to long
I'll ask the vet and if it is a furball see if he can give me some liquid parafin or similar to take home in case it happens again. I just hope its nothing more serious - forever the pessimist! I hate it when animals are poorly, but then i guess we all do.

If it is a furball, you can buy a dry cat food which helps assist in hairball's moving through the digestive system.
Thanks to everyone for their help. The vet thought it was either a furball or she had eaten something not normally on the menu. She did have a mouse the other day but managed to get it off her before it became dinner. Anyway she had an injection to stop her being sick, some special food and some stuff that looks like marmite that i have to put on top of her paws so she licks it off and that helps get rid of the furball and then prevents them apparently by putting it on once a week. So, on the mend fortunately.
I always gave liquid parafin for furballs. mine ofter threw them up for me, very kind of them. When they're poorly i always put a little honey in the water or see if they'll lick it off my finger. Settles the tum a little.
I'll try the honey. I'd much rather use something natural than a load of chemicals. Thanks for the tip.
