I have a Lhasa comes into the salon for clipping/grooming and has been diagnosed with this problem. After reading up on it, it would appear that this breed is somewhat prone to getting this skin condition.
Can anyone give any help as to what may or may not help this little dog and its owners. His symptoms are very greasy skin along his back and his skin looks red/inflamed, as if been brushed to vigorously but this isn't the case. It doesn't appear to bother him, no scratching etc
On research it seems its treatable but not curable!
ANY suggestions would be very much appreciated as I feel we need to help this little lad.
I have suggested they change his diet to something more simple and not to give treats (elimination diet basically)
Its very difficult with pet owners as they don't seem to get the importance of knowing what they are feeding their pets!
'He's on James Wellbeloved in a green & gold bag'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats all they knew. Bless ;o)
I have asked them to check out exactly what he is on and if needs be it may need changing.
Thanks for any help you may pass this way.
