I notice on the newly formatted litters page it highlights that parents have been health tested.I take it this relates to recommended tests by the Kennel Club.Is this a new option as I can't remember this being available when I advertised my pups.

I think it is automatic if you have previously submitted health test results for your dog.  I notice that my previous litter only shows Dam health tested when of course the Sire was too but obviously not in my ownership even though I do have copies of his results I don't think it's my place to submit them.

On the positive side - I have been able to submit new test results that are not 'recommended' by the KC as yet.

i did that, And when the k/c did  decide we did   needed to test for that certain health problem they wouldnt put results on the dogs results because it was done before it was mandatory to do so???????????????????????

Not sure how it works on here now. In the past, it seemed that anyone could specify any health test they had done and it would count, even if it was not one recommended for the breed. For example, someone advertises litters on here, sired by there dog and say he is health tested. He had a heart test of some sort seveal years ago in his country of origin. He has never been hip scored even though hip scoring is a requirement for the breed under the KC accredited breeders scheme.

Maybe someone in the know on here could clarify that one.

All health tests are submitted by the owners and then checked either on the KC health checker or by the owner also submitting a copy of the result certificate to admin.HTH

Edited to add this will still leave a prospective purchesser some research to do if the owner has only submitted some health tests.

OK thanks for that. It's quite difficult for prospective purchasers to discern which tests are necessary for their breed. I guess it's best if they go by the KC accredited breeder scheme, although not all breeds are listed for testing. Actually that could be a plus point for anyone who hasn't made their mind up yet about which breed to have.

Never having owned both the parents of any litter I have EVER bred ( in over 30 years),
it seems that I will never have the legend 'Both parents health tested' on my champdogs page unless I have the facility to add another owners health information....... Is this available?
