Just wondered what you all thought of it? I don't think it's quite as user friendly as the original one, although I sure I'll get used to it, but I'm not keen on the layout of the litters available page. You can't sort litters by date now (unless I'm missing it), and looking from side to side to see who the breeder is makes me dizzy, surely it could be a bit more easy on the eye?

Also whoever did the characteristics for Japanese spitz were cOmpletely wrong lol they're down as obedient which is one thing they're not unless they feel like it, perhaps they should of sourced a few peoples opinions ona breed.
I like the idea of the articles page, but shouldn't breed articles be on the that breeds page?

Certainly not as user friendly as the original, some photos are pretty dire, stretched out of proportion. To be honest I much prefer the original.

I pm'd and emailed them offering breed guides and photos for silken windhounds and they're still not on there, and they didn't even have the courtesy to reply :-(

Nope, don't like it any where near as much as the original. Harder to navigate and photos distorted.

Who did the write ups for the breeds, anyone know? Errors and omissions of important points in both of my breeds. If you are apoiad up member with a pic how do you make sure it does not get elongated? I haven't been a member for a couple of years as I haven't had any pups to advertise, but for future reference useful to find out.

I find it difficult to look at and navigate too, I have to say, although I guess I will get used to it. Apart from content issues, there is a shocking lack of proof-reading and grammar checking, on my breed at least. Looks very unprofessional.
M.

I never knew it was updated LOL.i was contacted early last year about my CEDs and would I write an article and provide some pictures.Glad to say they are now up along with breed characteristics.
Not everyone likes change and I must say I am still getting my head around it, but it does seem clumsy and messy?

they're missing the Korean Jindo too, (imp reg breed in UK) FCI reconnised, and yet breeds banned in the UK are listed
>Apart from content issues, there is a shocking lack of proof-reading and grammar checking, on my breed at least.
Mine too, I'm afraid.

And mine too. History is incorrect and information about other recommended health tests are not mentioned (even though they're not necessarily hereditary conditions). :(

Messy, and in some cases inaccurate - some of the photos used are either badly handled or not of a good enough quality or animal in the first place.
Not as user friendly as before.
I don't mind change but prefer it to be for the better!
Who did the write ups for the breeds, anyone know? I would assume CD members known within their respective breeds -I did the Malinois one as I was asked quite some time ago. (Must be 2 years ago.) It had to be very brief. The one covering all 4 BSDs was written by a wellknown judge in the breed and is the same that has been on CD for years.

At the risk of upsetting the owner of the dog in the photo for my breed I prefer the old one, surely we are trying to educate the general public as to what these dogs "should" look like and therefore should be as close as possible to the breed standard?
Also agree with proof reading before publishing it, it has obviously taken someone a lot of time and it seems a shame that it may be let down by spelling/grammar.

I've only had a look at approx 10 breeds, (it's not perfect I agree) but, all I can see is all the hard work that has gone into it........my goodness that is a lot of work and time put in. It must be devastating to read all these negatives.
I'm sure all the little glitches and errors will be sorted. :-) I find just clicking on the picture of the breed I'm looking at great.... all info is there straight away.
We'll get used to it. :-)
>It must be devastating to read all these negatives.
An editor's or proof-reader's job is to prevent these mistakes getting through.
There obviously isn't a proof reader. :-D It's a CD collaboration, (so we'll have to do that job) I think if we log down the probs and forward, they can all quickly be corrected. Big team effort! :-)
>There obviously isn't a proof reader.
I agree - and I wonder why not. It's a shame because it's very important, and makes the difference between a professional or an amateur job.

But would our opinion be listened to Carrington do you think?
I'm really concerned about some of the content in the description of my breed, but I'm only an owner/exhibitor. Would the opinion of just one person warrant changing the wording?
I'll put in the effort, but I'm not a team by myself lol :)

So many of the photos haven't reproduced well, being either stretched or squished. And it looks rather as though the header picture for the 'Stud Dogs' is actually a bitch!

Just had a quick look.....EEEEEEEK!!! :) Bad grammar and bad spelling give such a bad impression don't they?

No, me either.
eta (Can't see any banned breeds either).
But that aside, this site is available worldwide, so it would make sense if there
werebreeds that aren't recognised in the UK, but are elsewhere.
I think we need to view what is on the site as it's debut not the completely finished article (even if it were thought to be so at the time :-D ) it's the first time we've all been able to have a look at it, as there are errors they need addressing. We've always been asked for help and CD members have been behind what we have here, in fact they are behind almost everything on the site. We can and should put our points across, to make it the best that it can be.
Would the opinion of just one person warrant changing the wording? If it is felt warranted of course. Mark does listen to our concerns. :-) And he wants to make this site the best, so he would be a fool not to listen, even the breed experts can miss things off and appreciate a little input, it's often difficult to put everything into words.
I guess not everything was thought of, (JG would have been great as the spell and grammar checker for one) some of us are good at some things but not others, it just needs a little tweak. :-)

> So many of the photos haven't reproduced well, being either stretched or squished
I know the request from Champdogs for photos specified that they should be in their original large format. In other words, not cropped or shrunk. I know we found it difficult to find decent quality pics that we had not put through our Photoshop program. So if others had the same problem, maybe the photos they received were not very user-friendly. Just a thought.
> But that aside, this site is available worldwide, so it would make sense if there werebreeds that aren't recognised in the UK, but are elsewhere.
Like Silken Windhounds :-).... only they're not there :-(

I cant even get it to load so cant have alook at anything except the forum. Anyone got any ideas why
only they're not there :-(
Ahhh..... {{{hug}}} We can at least see your avatar. :-)
> We can at least see your avatar.
:-)
That won't help promote the breed though! I was sure CD was all the money these days and there are several european silken windhound breeders that would have happily paid to list their dogs/litters etc. As they are a relatively new breed we are actively trying to get them better known, get wider publicity. As well as the recent articles in Our Dogs this would have been an ideal showcase.

Such a shame..the photo depicting the King Charles Spaniel is actually a black and tan Cavalier.
I updated a few bits on my account and went to preview the changes onto to find my gsp and husky had turned into an Italian Spinoni called 'Ilso Likes to Boogie '. I qucikly pressed cancel any changes and will wait for more glitches to be ironed out before I do anything.
> find my gsp and husky had turned into an Italian Spinoni
You know I think if you crossed a GSP and a husky you might get something that looks like a spinone :-D :-P

Yes, so did I, but all I got was a Champdog page, superimposed over a Champdogs page, superimposed over a Champdogs page, ad infinitum!! lol
I noticed on my breed there is no mention of the DNA CEA test :(

I hadn't mentioned the poor punctuation etc., as I didn't want to offend anyone if CD members had submitted them, but it seems to be almsot across the board, so perhaps were a few done by members with some expertise and the rest just cobbled together, sham if so. It makes it look unprofessional and a lot less authoritative. The pics on the Am. Cockers are not terrific, the Pugs OK but not top class. Would be happy to correct/complete if asked to do so.

Poor punctuation in my breed's description as well as a few other minor errors. Apparently the breed is also affected by hip dyspepsia....as if it didn't have enough problems already! :-D

You guys have made me totally paranoid - so I have rechecked my submission. I did run it through the breeder who introduced the breed into the country early last year and she felt it was fine. So though brief I am quite happy and proud of my submission and glad some of my pictures of my Canadian Eskimos were used. :)

I must admit the one thing that let the site down was the amount of images that one could upload but Im glad that there is a gallery now, but I am upset to see that our breed standard says that bullmastiffs rarely suffer from HD. HD is the biggest problem that effects the breed and rather farcical to make such a claim.
However I am glad to see that some of the advertised stud dogs have been taken down as though they were health tested they had infact failed the tests or were more that double the breed average but were still allowed to register the litters on the site if they had sired them!

Not actually a reply to Gwen, but as she mentioned photos... Just having a quick look around, and certainly on the Vallhund page at least several of the photographs I know were taken by a professional photographer who holds copyright and who is not credited with the photos.
I think it's the same with at least one of the Mittel photos. Were the copyright holders asked if the photos could be reproduced without credit?
