I am trying to establish registered ownership of a pup and make contact with these people.I have contacted the Kennel Club but they say they can only give limited information due to Data Protection. Is there any source of information that will give the name and address or contact number of registered owners.

Can I ask why you are trying to trace the owners of the pup? Did you breed this pup yourself?
If not have you spoken to the breeders?

Is this the pup that the stud dog owners had (as well as a stud fee) and then sold on?  If so, was the stud dog owner not prepared to put you in touch with the pup's new owners?

Would rather not contact them.Really dont want to cover old ground on this posting.I also don't want to appear rude but just need advice on establishing ownership and possible contact address.

Ah yes I recall reading this issue now.. I have no idea if the stud dog owners aren't prepared to pass on where the pup maybe.. Your only hope is the puppies owners make contact with you or you see them at a club show of some kind?

If you write a letter to the new owner, with a stamped envelope, dont seal it,then forward your letter to the kennel club they will then forward it to the new owner
who that can decide if they want to get in touch.

The BRS will print the names of the person the pup was transfered to, but I guess they can tell you that anyway, but as for address and telephone number it is data protected.

However, once you know the names you can then use 192.com, which has the electoral list, if you can somehow get the stud dog owner to just give you the county or use your own powers of deduction, you are almost there for £10 you can look at addresses and telephone numbers. (3 for £10) If it is an unusual name you may not need the county and can try to whittle it down yourself, if it is Smith or Jones, you would have to spend a fortune in trying to find the right owners. Or give up as there would be too many.

The only other way is if perhaps the KC could tell you if the new owners have an affix, if the pup went to a pet home no help, but if they do have an affix, perhaps they have a website which you can then get contact details from.

Otherwise, it's hard but maybe the best way is to go cap in hand to the stud dog owner, I know I wouldn't want to after what happened, but maybe it is worth a little humiliation to find out where you pup is. :-)

Good idea carolyn I didn't realise the KC would do that. :-)

Yes they did it for me about 2 years ago.

Just contacted the Kennel Club they no longer provide that service.

It's a long shot but have you tried googling the KC name of the puppy.  Maybe the new owner has announced the new arrival on their website?  (if they have one)
BRS would be my other suggestion.

I had a similar problem years ago when 2 puppies I sold then got resold despite me asking the original owners to get in contact with me should they ever need to rehome them. Anyway I tried to trace them via the Kennel Club and was told that, If the new owners have registered the pups, then I could write a letter to them (new owners) send it to the Kennel Club in an envelope with a stamp on with a covering letter and they would pass it on.
