Topic Dog Boards / General / Puppies, drowned.
- By labs [gb] Date 23.05.11 10:02 UTC
I am so upset right now. I was out walking the labs this morning when my youngest pup dived into a dyke and retrieved me a dead Lab pup. I took it off him and before I could stop him he went in and pulled out another. They were 2 little black bitches. I couldn't see any-more. I phoned the local police station in-case anybody had had a litter stolen and thieves decided to dump them but nothing, then call the RSPCA who will call me back when they have decided what they want to do, which is probably nothing as to be honest what can they do, they have nothing but 2 dead pups. oh the tears I have cried this morning, I hate the fact there are people in this world who can do that to an animal :(

So sad.

How sad....those poor puppies.  It must have been so upsetting for you too.
- By Chrissy [gb] Date 23.05.11 11:43 UTC
So, so sad.  I shed a tear just reading this.  What on earth makes someone do this.  Poor puppies and poor you.
- By claire_41 [gb] Date 23.05.11 11:49 UTC
how awful :(
- By labs [gb] Date 23.05.11 11:55 UTC
It was awful, RSPCA still haven't called back, not that I expected them to do anything really. I will (if the rspca doesn't want them) bury their little bodies in the garden so they at least have a bit of dignity. I am also going to call the local paper as they may want to highlight it if only on the off chance that the monster who done this sees it and knows what they done didn't go unnoticed.
- By claire_41 [gb] Date 23.05.11 11:59 UTC
have you looked on doglost to see if they were missing ?

RSPCA are a complete waste of time IMO
- By Brainless [gb] Date 23.05.11 12:00 UTC
Were these newborns or older pups that perhaps were past their sell by date, or stolen?
- By rabid [gb] Date 23.05.11 12:20 UTC
Yes, how old did these pups look to be?
- By labs [gb] Date 23.05.11 12:25 UTC
These were newborns, one still had its umbilical cord :(
- By labs [gb] Date 23.05.11 12:27 UTC
Thats why I called the police to see if they had had any reports of stolen pups or pregnant bitches but they didn't seem interested just done a quick search and said no reports, this is an rspca matter, you need to call them.
- By rocknrose [gb] Date 23.05.11 12:47 UTC
Thats horrible. I would certainly get in touch with the paper. If its highlighted, someone, somewhere must know of a recently pregnant lab bitch.
- By Merlot [gb] Date 23.05.11 12:48 UTC
Oh haw sad. I wonder if one still had a cord on if these pups died at birth and were flushed down the drain to dispose of them. Horrible but at least they would be non the wiser.
Give them a dignified burial it's the only thing left for them now.

Oh that's so sad and such a nasty experience for you as well (())
- By Celli [gb] Date 23.05.11 13:13 UTC
I dispair of the human race, poor little mites and poor you, I'd have been in tears too. I think getting in touch with the papers would be the best plan, you might even mention that to the RSPCA, that might make them take some action, they should at least come and take the little bodies away.

Wonder if the pups mum is ok, poor thing must be pining for her babies.
- By mastifflover Date 23.05.11 14:00 UTC
Oh no how horrible. :( :(

Is it worth getting in touch with local vets? They may be aware of missing pregnant dogs, or know of an owner that may be the culprit. Allthough they won't be able to give you any information, I wonder if they would get in touch with the RSPCA, and being vtes, may have more of a response?

Poor little babies :(

- By Sawheaties [gb] Date 23.05.11 14:38 UTC
Just when you think that mankind cannot get any worse then something comes along to prove they can :(

What a truely tragic story and I hope you are feeling slightly better for sharing it; a terrible thing for you to witness.
RIP little ones.

Awful experience for you. RIP babies

Thank you all for your kind words. Well the RSPCA did come and collect the little bodies. The inspector said he was going to go and investigate the spot they were found and pass the story onto their press department and they will go to the local papers in our area. He asked if I would make a statement to the papers which I will.

I keep trying to think of a reason they might have been there other than someone deliberately drowning them but this was in a dyke where no drainage is connected so couldn't have been flushed, it's down a private loke with only a few cottages and it was right near the the gate so looked like they were just chucked over. I just hope that when it goes in the paper someone will have some information to offer to the RSPCA.

So sad, poor you and poor pups.
- By JeanSW Date 23.05.11 20:58 UTC
What an awful experience for a dog lover to encounter.  I cried just reading about it.  I can't imagine how you felt when you saw the poor little ones.    {{{{  HUGS  }}}}

This made the BBC Look East news this morning.
- By cavlover Date 26.05.11 10:06 UTC
I would imagine they were stillborn, poor mites. Would it have been too much bother to give them a proper burial :-(
