Im posting this for my friend as she has no internet access. She has 2 lhasa apsos and one has been on a special diet for weeks now due to crystals in his urine, she has now been told that apart from the special tinned food from the vet( tinned hills c/d) and small amount of mixer also from vets thats basiacally all he is alloed for the rest of his life.Because they are both so greedy she feels guilty giving one treats and not the other so they atre both treat free and she feels awful! Is there anything else that dogs with this condition are allowed? Thanks

My friend has a cat thats prone to crystals. He is also on the special diet. The vet said the diet must make up 90% of the food the cat eats. All the cats meals consist of this food but a cats a cat and it goes scavaging around in bins. It also catches and kills wildlife. This must be the other 10% because it has suffered no ill effects.

I would get her to have a word with her vet and find out just how strict she has to be.

Could she give him the food as treats? I know it's not as nice for her, not being able to indulge. But my picky puppy will often eat her kibble perfectly happily as treats if I'm training her, or if I give the other 2 a piece of kibble each and then give her some, so they don't really realise that it's not what we would call a treat!
