Hi, i bought a westie puppie about three weeks ago and i think that the breeder is trying to rip me off. I answered an ad in my local newspaper and the man brought my pup down to where i live. I realise now that i should have looked into this man more to see whether he was a reputable breeder. Anyway, i'm really happy with my pup, he's so lovely but the only problem is i still haven't recieved any paperwork for him i.e pedigree certificates. I rang the breeder and he said he'd sent them but they must be delayed because of the christmas post. They still didn't arrive and then he said he'd sent duplicates, they didn't arrive either and he definately has the correct address. Is he trying to rip me off do u think? and if he is, is there anything i can do about it? I'll also tell u that when i bought the dog, he didn't seem concerned about him or where he was going, he asked me no questions, just took the money. I would appreciate it if u could offer me some advice because i'm a first time dog owner. Thanks.

Well I think you should definitely look into the matter.It could well be an honest mistake, but worst case scenerio the pup may've been stolen from someone else.Contact the nearest reputable westie breeder,I'm sure they'd be knowledgable of all other breeders nearby.If your suspicions are correct, report this man to the police for fraud.

cabeat emptor...Doubt you will see your papers, if indeed there ever were any. Nevermind, whats done is done, unless you take the pup back & demand a refund as you have not got all you paid for (can you prove it?) . hopefully you have a nice pet dog.

Try getting in touch also with the newspaper to see if they still have a copy of the add,
I know some papers have a copy of there isues AND they might have an old paper,
if the add said that the puppy was kc reg at least you can prove this if you have to take it further.

Is ur pup tattooed? I was told that it can take 6 months before I got paper's when I got my B terrier, and they did come. Could u call the kennel club. Hope it all works out for u.

No reputable breeder works in this way, we like you to visit us when the pups are round about 4/5 weeks old to pick your pup and see the mum and any others we might have.
