Slightly off-topic........but I am always surprised by the different "unwritten rules/protocols" in other breeds. I learn something new each time I speak to someone with a different breed.
My friend in Norwich Terriers told me it's frowned upon to show a dog once it's been made up as you may be stopping another dog being made up!
In my opinion to be the best you must beat the best! :)

Think in my own breed hospitality is given as a matter of good manners regardless of the reason for your visit - I just can not imagine an Elkie owner not offering you a drink and if you are there a while food the same as you would with any visitor.

I do tell visitors to remind me to get that cup of tea as I am forever switching the kettle back on, as too busy chatting to realise ti's boiled.
