Were are off the the vets shortly as ive noticed some swelling around her 1st mammary gland and some green discharge in the milk. Teats are not hard but with only having 2 puppies i think thats caused it. Not all teats are affected so do i block off affected ones and let them feed from the others and start weaning early? Got some lactol and will pick up goats milk later, i dont normally start til gone 3 weeks and they were 2 weeks yesterday. Is it too early to try anything else blended mince babydog etc? One thing after another, got some puppystim from the vets this morning for the smaller puppy who isnt gaining as much as his sister.

My girl had mastitis last year, litter of 6, in one teat. However, we did not have a green discharge so what you do may be very different.

I massaged/kneaded with a hot flannel (not so hot to burn her skin, but hot) pretty much on an hourly basis (she did have a hard teat). I also put my strongest 'sucker' onto the teat in the hope of clearing it. She was on antibiotics and it did take over 14 days to clear up.

I was advised to keep pups feeding, which I did. But, as said, no green discharge. I also made sure that the 2 spare teats (the front ones) were also used.

These girls are a worry ... hope you get her sorted soon.

Good, hope everything goes well, but don't be disheartened if you need more ABs. Last year I thought it would never clear up, but it did ... and she's got a lovely looking teaty now :-)
