Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / How effective is Milbemax & how quick does it work?
- By meme99 [gb] Date 16.05.11 18:57 UTC
I know I should know this already but sometimes it is just nice to have reassurance!
My puppies were wormed 2 weeks ago for 3 days on panacur.
They are now 6 weeks old and I suspect they have worms. They eat like pigs and have fat hard bellies.
I wormed them with milbemax this morning. 1 in the litter is massive!
I am sure it isnt bloat or anything and I separated the fattest intil he had a poo to make sure all was working properly.
I have had puppies pass worms in the past but I am just wondering how quickly their tummies take to "go down"?
Obviously if there is no change pretty soon I will be off to the vet but dont feel it is an out of hours emergency right now. (I may be corrected but he is still doing all the normal puppy things).
I am off tomorrow for 1st vac on the oldest litter so may take him along but reassurance in the mean time would be good.
Thanks

What makes you think they are wormy and not just fat puppies as you say they are greedy.

Their (well him) tummies are hard and he looks pregnant.
Just checked him n he has had a poo and is eating yet again! I dont want to restrict food to a puppy though!
They were wormed this morning so I am expecting mr whippy poo's in the imminent future.

I worm all mine with milbermax and never have any Mr Whippy poo's. Should work within 24 hours if they are wormy.
Do you free feed them? if so you should make sure he is not eating far too much. I am not a believer in free feeding and I like to see every pup have it's share. If you feed 4-5 times a day you can monitor it better.

Can I be nosey and ask why you have 3 litters at the same time ? Most of us on CD (Including those of us with lots of years under our belts) would struggle to cope with 3 lots of pups at the same time.

The OP has already stated on another thread that its her business and she enjoys it.

I think we all know that 'enjoying it' is not a good reason to breed :-(
