Thought id start a new post since my old one is growing cobwebs,i am awaiting the news from a breeder who i may if the bitch is pregnant be getting a puppy from( have been waiting a long time) unfortunately there was only one slip mating

Just a quick update,6 weeks on and breeder is still not sure if she has been lucky enough to fall pregnant with one slip mating. She never scans which would have said one way or the other but she is very old fashioned. She said so far she threw up her meal once around 4 weeks,is very lethargic and slow and sleeps a lot too, teats a little bigger although not obviously huge and she generally looks and feels a bit bigger although there is no obvious pregnant tum but her ribs seem wider( her words),What do you think?Im no expert but am clinging to the hope she may be so i can get my beloved pup.

For what it's worth,  I never scan.  And I have a breed that sometimes doesn't look pregnant until the week before they whelp.

Indeed, I had a girl that had a pup that I could feel quite clearly, just the one.  Less than 24 hours before she whelped, the second pup moved down from under the ribcage.

I always stand over my bitches and stare at the ribcage to tell me yay or nay.

So never say never. :-)

The breeder just rang to say she took her girl to the vet because she was concerned that if she wasnt pregnant then she wanted to know why she was so lethargic. He had a feel and said no she wasnt, that she should be a lot bigger than that at 6 weeks. The breeder said she can normally tell by 6 weeks but all are so different but after hearing the vet has examined her feel so diisappointed.Would he definately be able to tell by feeling around or could there be a couple hiding?

At 6 weeks it can be difficult to feel -that is best done at around 4 weeks. Would have been better to do a scan.

You can't feel them if they're up under the ribcage.
