It is not the right time to begin dealing with food aggression and trying to train her whilst in whelp, the best thing to do is to feed your male in a completely different place or at a different time keeping your bitch separate.

Has she shown this type of aggression before? Is she being given enough food? Was it all teeth and growls or did she actually injure him? Has she ever had any temperament issues previous?

Whatever the reasons for this your bitch should not have any stress at this time and your dog should not be attacked, so separate and these issues if they continue will need to be sorted out afterwards.

I hope that you have a whelping area completely away from interference of your male as if she is attacking him and as you perceive trying to kill him over food she will do even worse once the pups are here.

Have you upped her food intake? Some bitches are ravenous in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

feed them in seperate rooms obv and give her plenty to eat. depending on how far along she is, she will need more than one meal a day!
once pups are here he will need to be kept away completely, she wont tolerate another dog near her pups for at least 2 weeks maybe longer

she has always been the dominant one but she has never attacked him, she has gone for him and left it but this morning she really went for him.

i have a whelping area set up totally away from him

i have upped her food she gets plenty of food, she always bullied him over the food and he backs away but i was standing inbetween them today and she sneaked around and got him.(so sneeky she is )

she would have done some serious damage had my oh not got her off him

i think i will keep them seperate at feeding times thanks for advice
