Topic Dog Boards / General / Champdogs - Can you help ?
- By MarkR Date 08.05.11 09:52 UTC Edited 14.05.11 11:35 UTC
As you may already know we will soon be releasing a major upgrade to the Main Champdogs site.

On the new site each breed will be illustrated by seven pictures. My daughter has been painstakingly collecting these pictures over the past months and  has completed (or nearly completed) collecting pictures for 180 of the 210 breeds we have on the site. However there are a number of breeds for which she is struggling to complete the set.

Do you have, or know of anyone who has, any good pictures of the following breeds :

Pinscher
Azawakh
Bouvier des Flandres
Bedlington Terrier
Ibizan Hound
Jack Russell Terrier
Irish Water Spaniel
Irish Terrier
Grand Bleu De Gascogne
Basset Bleu De Gascogne
Beauceron
Long-Haired Dachshund
Estrela Mountain Dog
Smooth Fox Terrier
Glen of Imaal Terrier
Hungarian Kuvasz
Komondor
Kooikerhondje
Lagotto Romagnolo
Swedish Lapphund
Greater Swiss Mountain Dog
Belgian Shepherd Dog (Laekenois)
Pumi
Dogo Argentino
Cirneco dell Etna
Azores Cattle Dog
Portuguese Sheepdog
Korthals Griffon

Basenji - Now Complete
Basset Fauve De Bretagne - Now Complete
Bergamasco - Now Complete
Greyhound - Now Complete

We are looking for a variety of poses, colours and types, action shots, puppy pictures etc for each breed.

The pictures on the site will be cropped to fit a 4:3 landscape ratio (TV screen), so the original pictures are preferable to any you may have already cropped yourself.

I know this is a long shot as most of the breeds we have left are pretty obscure, but any help you can give would be much appreciated.

When we launch the new site will have a draw and 3 people who have contributed to getting the new site up and running by way of supplying pictures, breed guides and testing will win a year's free membership of Champdogs.

Nearly forgot to say if you any pictures could you send them to hannah@champdogs.co.uk please.

Thanks
Mark

I have already replied to an email I received asking for pics of my dogs, I see they are no longer on the list.

I presume that the standard longhaied dachsie breeders on Champdogs have been approached, I know of some but not well.

Just a question on this breed, are you allowing advertising of it? Being that it is a banned breed here in the UK.

I can give you e-mail addresses of a couple of Laekenois breeders if that's of any use?

Champdogs is available to UK and European breeders. If a breed is FCI registered, then it will appear :)

I could be wrong but I think we have only had one response and picture so far.

Mark, do you mean Jack Russell Terrier or Parson Russell? I have some shots of the JR but as they differ so much it may not be what you are wanting.

Would you like a pic of a Lagotto I groom, I've no idea if she's a good example and I don't suppose the background is going to be anything to write home about as I just take pics of them on the grooming table.

Jackie - Jack Russell please

My sister has 2 JRT's so can pass on photos of those if you like, both look very different in coat type.

Righto, it's on the way. I believe they rehomed her from the breeder because she couldn't get her in whelp, so hopefully she is a reasonable example!

How are you going to do that without breaking the law? You'd need some sort of disclaimer making it clear that Dogo Argentinos can only be advertised by non-UK citizens and only sold TO non-UK citizens.

I was asked for pictures of my girl so I am guessing that thats why my breeds not on the list. My friend has Bergamasco's I could ask her.

Are 'Jack Russells' a recognised breed by FCI somewhere outside UK then?  That's interesting...

> Are 'Jack Russells' a recognised breed by FCI somewhere outside UK then?

Yes, we have a number of breeders whom breed FCI registered JRT :)
- By PennyGC [gb] Date 12.05.11 21:24 UTC
You'd probably need photos from those countries then? Our jack russells are more a 'type' than a breed allegedly which is why UK recognised one type and called it Parson Jack Russell.

>You'd probably need photos from those countries then?

Yes, but there are FCI registered dogs in the UK, so it was worth asking here just incase.

Basset Fauve De Bretagne & Bergamasco complete thanks.
- By MarkR Date 21.05.11 09:42 UTC
Thanks to all that have sent pictures or referred us to your friends. We now have at least one picture for every breed except one. That one breed is the :

Basset Bleu De Gascogne

Who is going to get their name in lights for helping us with this one ?
There must be somebody out there !

- By triona [gb] Date 26.05.11 21:36 UTC
Iv just googled Basset Bleu De Gasconge out of interest and there seems to be a standard and miniature size.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 29.05.11 15:23 UTC
I think you'll find there is the Grand Bleu de Gascoigne and the Basset Bleu de Gascoigne http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basset_Bleu_de_Gascogne (long legs and short legs).
