Topic Dog Boards / Health / Eating grass/loose stools

Probably a recurring theme at this time of the year.My medium size hound which is well fed and relatively healthy continues to devour grass at every given opportunity.Almost impossible to stop as she really needs to run freely in woodland areas. This results in loose stools+++.Probably nothing to be too concerned about.Just wondered if anybody else experienced same problem with their dogs and any potential solutions.

Yes this time of year my lot love grazing especially on the young wheat shoots but I try and discourage it especially after they have just sprayed the crops.

It doesn't affect their stools apart from it has grass in them.

Yep here as well and small cocker running around with grass threaded pooh bit like having a baby again - pass the loo roll.

Have often been told that like eating soil it is due to some mineral deficiency, but our two large hounds are well fed and on a good diet. They eat grass all year round but particularly at this time of year when it's all fresh, solution  have to carry tissues!
