Just back from Tilly's first walk. We did 15 mins which included playing in a field and wandering in the woods. She had a whale of a time and couldn't seem to get her head around all the sights and smells. We chose a late evening walk as we didn't want lots of people and dogs around to overwhelm her. We bumped into one cyclist and one group of 3 boys playing on a tree swing; the cyclist stopped to chat and she had a good look at the bike and was fine the group of lads were another story. One started screaming and the other two had to appologise that he was scared of dogs and could we walk a bit faster to get Tilly out of his sight - they were very polite and we complied gladly.

We had Tilly on one of those retractable leads - never used one before - and had a go at some recall and she did brilliantly. The whole walk she stuck close and didn't pull once we got past the first couple of steps.

I had forgotten how much fun dog walking was - we haven't been for a while as my dog couldn't go out in the last few months of her life :(

I agree, I have a young GSD and today we met so many dogs and people, I havent enjoyed a walk like that for such a long time, my old GSD has always been a nightmare with other dogs so we had to avoid doggie places, she gets walked on her own now and is quite happy to amble along and sniff, even walking in the rain this morning was so enjoyable.
