Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Confused about dates..

This is our first litter of puppies with our bitch, we took her to the breeders to be mated she had a slip mating on the sunday, a slip mating on the monday, tuesday nothing then the wednesday she managed to 'hold him in for 5 mins' and then thursday they finally mated and got a 55 min tie.

Do we go by the Sundays slip mating or the Thursday's official tie for the dates?

she's definatley showing signs of being in whelp, if going by the first slip mating she would technically be 4 weeks this sunday, going by the thursdays she's only 3 weeks and 1 day...... she's 'struggling' to eat her food, she's always been a good eater and will normally clear the bowl in minutes but now she's taking a good 10 mins and sometimes cant even finish her food, should we look at giving her split meals earlier than the 6 weeks stage when you'd normally split them into smaller meals?

She's had one episode of 'morning sickness' that was last weekend and we've definatley noticed a change in her and how close to us she has become and how she's always sleeping.

I'm planning on getting her scanned a week tomorrow when we know she'll def be 4 weeks atleast from the last mating.

I personally would go by the day you had the 'best' mating....so the day with the 55 min tie.

I would go from the first slip mating as it is possible to get pups from a slip mating but keep in mind if she is going later than expected that she may have got pregnant later in the week.

Obviously you'll be ready from the day of the first slipped mating anyway

of course we have both dates marked down anyway and we have everything ready already, i like to be organised lol just wanted to know whether we should take it that she is already 4 weeks which might explain her struggling to finish a meal rather than only just 3 weeks which would then be a bit strange as she normally eats like a horse.

My girl started leaving food 16 days after the 1st tie ........ and she never ever leaves food , turned out she was in pup

i am pretty certain she is having puppies, she's completley changed and its very unlike her to leave food or even take longer than a few mins to clear her dinner

Fingers crossed for the scan next week :)
