Our toy breed pups are 8 days old and 3 (out of 5) seem quite constipated. Mum is stimulating them regularly after feeding but to no avail. They don't appear dehydrated and are still feeding every 2 hours - but they have hard stomachs and definitely haven't defecated since last night.
I've tried rubbing them with cotton wool and warm water but again - no result.
I've been recommended to use liquid paraffin orally but does anybody know how much per KG? They are only 300g each in weight at the moment

Are you sure they aren't going when she is licking them? It is quite normal not to see any poo when pups are this young as mums are very good at keeping them clean :-)

give them some boiled cooled water .
In our litter of 9 puppies I never saw 1 pooh until the 3rd week !!!! They could have beed purple for all I know or never oohed at all. The mother stimulates and eats the poohs at the same time so you may not probably will not see any ?
Thank you for all your replies :)
I tried some cooled boiled water as suggested (I didn't want to go diving in there with the liquid paraffin unless absolutely necessary) 4 of the 5 pups finally went during the early hours of the morning and now seem a lot better.
One pup still has a hard stomach and is feeding for much shorter periods than the others though
