Topic Dog Boards / General / a very big ask????

Hi fellow doggy lover.

right I have a friend who has split from her husband in spain, lost her job and moved back to the UK.
she has 2 low chens in kennels in spain, fully passported and waiting to come over here.....right the dilemma.
She has asked me to have the dogs for her in the short term ( a couple of months or so until she has somewhere doggy friendly).

I was thinking about it, but with 2 bull terriers a st bernard x and 4 kids it just wouldn't be practical.

she can afford about £100 per month for expenses. she really wants them around london so she can visit and take them out weekends etc.....

i said i would ask on here to see if anybody could help or give any ideas.

thanks folks
x

Sometimes it is possible to strike a deal with UK kennels if dogs are going to stay a longer amount of time (ie not just 2/3 weeks) - although I don't know if £100 would be enough even then.  If they came to the UK and were in UK kennels, at least she'd be able to maybe take them out for walks and see them occasionally.

I would have thought kennels were her best bet. Surely if she has them kenneled in Spain it can't be much different to kennel them in the UK.
I would worry about letting someone I did not know have my girls unless it was a properly secure kennels. (Except for the dog sitters of course)
Not being funny but £100 a month is not a lot to take on the resposibility of someone elses dogs. Even in the cheapest kennels it would be £8 per night per dog...thats over £100 per week! That way she would know they were safe and more to the point insured.

The only other thing I can think of is a Lowchen rescue you could talk to them and ask if they would take on the dogs until your friend is settled, they would be insured, but whether they even would and how much they would charge I couldn't guess.

Thought of another..............are the dogs breeder/s in the UK or Spain? If in the Uk, is it possible to call and ask them?

But, if she has any family anywhere in the UK I think that is her best bet. :-) It doesn't matter that she can not visit every week at least they would be in safe hands. Not yet having a job in the Uk or a home, a couple of months could easily extend, family would at least go with the flow better and maybe forgive her not having her finances sorted.
