This is a bit of a weird one but both my dogs are experiencing increased eye snot at the moment and it has changed in texture to how it normally is. Usually they both have a wee bit upon waking and occasionally during the day but this is easily wiped away. It is usually a greyish or brownish colour.
Over the last week they have both had an increase in the amount, the rott more than the staff and it has changed to a really stringy texture. It doesn't appear to be an infection as neither of them have particularly red eyes, there is no green tinge to it and it doesn't appear to be bothering either of them. They have both had eye infections in the past and this is different. As strange as it may sound, the texture of the discharge is like the eye snot bull terriers get. every bull terrier I have ever known has stringy eye snot rather than small balls of it but I think this is probably linked to the shape of their eyes rather than anything else.
I am wondering if this is co-incidence that it has happened at the start of the hayfever season and may be an allergy rather than anything else. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on this?
