5 dogs entered with CC's at SKC-Toy Breed-I did not enter this year.

Maybe fuel costs or other factures.

Normal for SKC is 25 maybe 30 at a push.

ESS - 61 dogs with 67 entries.

Numbers really are lowering for ch shows this year so far it seems for many breeds.

Our numbers have dropped dramatically however it is not soley due to the economic climate but the judges.  We had way more at Kelso the other week that are entered for Birmingham next weekend, yet usually Birmingham entries are 3 times that of Kelso.  Again this year we have the same judges for 5 shows that judged us only 14 - 18 months ago, and they are entirely predictable so why bother.  When is the KC going to wake up.  And I know I am not the only one who feels this way, friends in other breeds have the same opinion too.  All of use have chosen to use our money at shows abroad, higher breed entry numbers, far better quality dogs forward, and generally the judging is not based on who is at the end of the lead.  Yesterday at Welks it was a farce.

Harkback,

I've always wondered what breed you have.. I've got it down to a Working, Hound or Terrier..lol

Hound - hence the moniker :)

Definitely fuel costs, I cut down a lot last year, ans fuel has gone up 50% since I did that.

Of my usual shows/those in my usual distance, even though I have a new puppy coming out at WKC, I am dropping several shows I would have entered, WELKS,  Birmingham National, Three Counties and Houndshow (judge has given my young Ch the CC, and don't see the point in showing just a veteran).

Only for this year due to the puppy I will do both WKC and South Wales, as they are now both in same venue and month, I will normally now do whichever has the better judge (if only they had kept to a South Wales venue making them local for South West exhibitors), and I will do Birmingham City (don't often do this one as no CC's and a long way to go) and Richmond.

Long distance I am doing the Scottish club show, whereas with the Mum Inka I did Leeds and Driffield on top of my normal shows.

61 in our breed is very low :-( I didn't enter as I don't like this venue, rings are too small, there is usually marquee polls in the middle of the ring(which boys like to veer over to for a pee) and you usually can't even get to our ring easily because of all the cages etc ringside from other breeds :-( and don't even get me started on the weather LOL :-)

main reason why benches at shows are a must,a dn these people should take their dogs and stuff there or the allocated grooming areas.

Often our rings are surrounded by cages and dogs of the breeds before or after us, or those not even in that ring.

The least we should expect is to be able to get out our own rings and be able to spectate at them.  Windsor, Richmond, WKC, and to some extent those shows at Stafford seem very bad for this because the benching tents are too far from the rings.

The shows with in out rings and benching close to relevant rings are my favourite

Our entry for SKC is up on last May, same as all Ch shows so far this year.

Our SKC entry is four times as much as last year -but that doesn't mean a lot LOL. We still have the total, utter madness that 3 of our ticket shows for the year are all in May (National, SKC, Bath) and so none of them will ever get decent entries as nobody will go to all 3 any more, it's just too expensive. As I didn't have a judge preference this year I picked which one to go to according to which venue and atmosphere I liked best and that was SKC.
