Could someone please check these temps for me - on Day 65 and getting a bit uncomfortable
Yesterday
AM - 37.4
Lunchtime - 38
Evening 37.5
Today
AM 37.1
Lunchtime 36.9
Evening 37
For the last week has hovered between 37 AM and 38 PM
Lydia

The temp taking didn't work for me, it was up and down like a YoYo, reading past comments on here it doesn't work for other members either.
I hope she gets going for you soon and has a safe and healthy whelping.

Just wanted to say good luck. Hopefully you won't have too long to wait. I usually take temps for the last week or so, but they are generally up and down. Latest litter went to 65 days and the biggest drop occurred on the morning of the 65th day, but having said that, it was only 37.0 so not hugely lower than for the preceding week. Best see how she is in herself.
All the best!

Very true. I find it so very much easier watching my bitches eyes. They tell me more than any thermometer has ever done. :-)

That is so very true. It would be nice if they could talk but actually they mostly let us know anyway.

Thanks guys
I do have quite a bit of experience and temp taking has always worked for me BUT have never had a bitch go past day 63 so was getting a bit concerned as had no other signs until midnight last night
Temp this AM 36.7 lots of nesting...so hopefully some time today :)
Lydia

Glad to hear things look like they are moving.
How many times was she mated? She may have not conceived till a day or 2 after the last mating making the whelping later than expected.

Mated twice and is on day 66 from the last mating or 68 from the first....totally alien to me !
After keeping me up most of the night, she's now fast asleep, typical !

She isn't overly huge which may cause primary inertia, the uterus is so over stretched it can't contract?
Other option is single pup and not enough hormones to trigger labour also cause of primary inertia?

Neither thankfully, toy beed with 3, had a scan on day 63 all looked well
She didn't start nesting until midnight so I'm not at all worried yet, just glad something is happening
Temp is still 36.7

I have always sworn by the temp check! i usually start a week before they are due twice a day to see what the temp pattern is. Then when it drops by about 1.5 degrees and stays down it usually happens within 18-24 hours. However I do notice it shoot back up an hour or 2 before whelping starts. These are toy breeds so not sure on bigger breeds??
But usually my instincts from experience tell me. Off food, nesting and just looking fed up uncomfortable and panting usually.
Hope this helps and good luck xx
