I had to take Tilly my 12 week old Bullmastiff to the vets today to get her second set of jabs and microchipped.
Two women in the waiting room were looking at her and talking quietly to each other obviously about Tilly and eventually one of them asked...
"Is it a Pug Lab cross?"
All I could think of was that if it was there would have been scaffolding needed during the mate!!
I have spent the last 10 mins debating with Hubby as to whether it would be a Pab or a Lug if you did for some unknown reason decide on that mix!!

By Jove Jeeves...! How decidedly Uncouth...! :( Perish the thought...! Sounds like they were talkng out their backsides if you ask me...! Hope you gave them "The Eye" as you walked out..! Good on you for unearthing such pesky scoundrel ness.....
:-D :-D oh dear, so many crosses around I guess you can't blame them, once she is fully grown no-one will mistake her (hopefully) they learnt something new, now they know what a Bullmastiff pup is. :-) Must admit I'd be a little upset if my full pedigree was suggested to be a cross though, but I've done it myself usually when it is a poor example of the breed.

Their is a litter of pugxrottie at the minute!! Stunned!
> Their is a litter of pugxrottie at the minute!!
OMG! I expect a stepladder was involved?
Mind you I saw a chap when out walking yesterday struggling with a springer and two very large black dogs, one of which had unusual grey roaning on its head and feet.
I asked what it was, and he replied: "Springer cross Great Dane"!
"Blimey," said I; "One of them had a stepladder then!"
"Yes," he said "That one!"....pointing at the Springer!
The world has gone craaaaazy!

I don't mind people not knowing what my American cocker is or thinking he's a Cavalier as he goes round with my two Cavs, or even a cocker cross, as Yankees aren't particularly well known. But I did feel slightly miffed when someone asked if he was a Clumber - gorgeous breed too of course, but honestly George is a perfectly decent Yankee and looks nothing like a Clumber!!

Have to laugh as with many large/giant breed dogs a lot of people don't have a clue.. Very few people guess what a Bernese is, same goes for those with Leo's and Newfs.
I have had people say about out golden retriever, is she a long haired labrador?
OMG! I expect a stepladder was involved?Do you remember the case many years ago involving a lady we most likely both knew, who kept rats? The neighbour didn't like it so threw their Jack Russel over the fence into her back garden to kill the rats. Only her GSD bitch was out there in season.......The JR didn't even need a ladder! Big bitches often lay down to accommodate tiny dogs. Have seen my Malis flirt with Papillons that way! )(When I only had a neutered male, I hasten to add!!)

years ago, there was a litter of pyrenean mastiff x daschund, bitch being the mastiff...
The owners owned both dogs but never thought there was a slightest chance of a meting between the two, till the pups arrived!

Where there's a 'willy' there's a way ;)

*groans* :-D

I had for many years mastiffs and daxies the later all girls, when they came in season, I soon knew, as the little darlings would lie sidewise against the weldmesh fence with their chosen mate the other side, egging him on. That meant 3 weeks banishment for all the girls! We never had a misalliance!

Try having a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retriever. "It's a what?". "Where are they from?" . "Is it a type of collie?"
LOL

I didn't think that was even possible until I googled this... have to say from my point of view it's not a very attractive dog! Sometimes you can see the reason behind crossing as they do throw attractive puppies. Not sure if it is the pug traits showing through or bad ownership but they seem to look either like overweight labs or particularly chubby pugs.

I do indeed! Though I only met her once I had a rat from her which became my foundation doe, for a successful line of Irish and also Berkshires.

Lol Toller, I had that conversation with a lady at All About Dogs on Monday - I'd rather like one myself if I ever upsized, but would never have the patience to tell anyone that long a breed name, haha! 'It's a Toller' 'What?' 'A Nova Sco... oh forget it!' :-D
